Which do you find more powerful, the protection circle or the protection jar? If you have have a jar is it filled with holy water or your own urine? I've heard of both and just wondered what others use for protection.
You use urine in magic whenever you wish to p*ss on someone such as an enemy or whenever you wish to have control over a situation or a person - think of a dog marking its territory. Such uses would be for keeping a boss under your thumb, winning at court against an adversary, keeping police officers away, etc.
I would not use urine for protection. There are some old folk spells which use urine - also called chamber lye - for a number of non-traditional uses, but i would still steer clear. There are better fluids available.
I would use holy water, though. When you use holy water you are inviting in divine protection, something quite desireable.
This is my favorite protection spell, for what it's worth:

Corrected to add: I would still steer clear of using urine *for personal protection unless you have a physical, human emenemy who is threatening your home. In that case i might use it to put up a permieter around your home - with other ingredients, etc. I would use holy water, though, in any spiritual petitions/spellwork for protections invoking spirits, beloved dead, angels, diety(ies) to aid you.
an old recipe for a witches bottle: fill bottle with various sharp objects. fill with your own urine and bury far from home in wooded area. repeat once a year.
never heard of it for love spells.
The only time urine is used in love spells (at least in what i've come into contact with, be that what it may) is in coercive love-type workings, say to "mark" a man as yours, to keep someone under your control, and to keep someone faithful and at home.
Urine is used for a lot of stuff.
But it is my personal feeling that you will feel more protected surounded by the light you imagine, then surrounded by an urine smell.
