astral projection

can anyone explain astral projection to me, like what it is and how to enter this world, do u need to be a sleep or what?

A sleeping body is preferable, but keep your mind aware. (Best done upon waking up slowly in the morning instead of at night when both your mind and body want rest.) This allows your energy-body (call it a soul or spirit or just awareness,) to separate from your physical body and leave the limits of the physical behind for a while. I've heard it can happen to people who are not asleep.

Some draw a line between astral projection (letting your energy body explore the astral planes such as heaven or the akashic library) and etheric projection (projection into this plane, like your bedroom or Paris or Mars -- just moving around without your body.) Also mental projection (or remote viewing.)

Psychologists call it a wake initiated lucid dream-- the link goes to a wiki article on induction techniques. The methods I've read of best divide into two: Hecatean, which involves waiting for sleep paralysis, choking, a "rushing" sensation, and other scary but completely natural experiences that come with feeling your body fall asleep ; and Helionic, which is much gentler visualization techniques.
