Honey cakes-I love the ritual. Very kitchen-witch and homey. That always makes me better. I am so glad you had success with them. I know that every step helps. Thank you for your lovely wishes, Lorelei.

I am a fairly new member. Though I am qualified to share a lot of knowledge (and will if it is asked of me) in other areas, ie Native Medicine, Shamanism, Reiki, Tarot etc I know nothing about Gypsy Magick...so I do not post spells and other things I know of as I thought that would be distracting from the focus of this Coven.

I joined to learn, so my motto when I do not know about something is listen twice as much as I speak ;-)

Again, I am willing to share lots of things but they are not Gypsy in nature so they don't seem to fit here. If I can help or share things I know just ask :-)

~Brightest Blessings~

I actually crave knowledge. I studied other areas of the art and found that romany traditions are from just about everywhere. Being travellers and all, they picked up a piece of culture from every part of the world I think. It is a bautiful thing, as with all areas of witchcraft, it evolves and moves with the times so saying that it is a stationary thing would be entirely inaccuarate. The mixed culture and comforting rituals always draws me back to gypsy witchcraft though. (that and of course how I was raised.) I do think that ALL aspects of witchcraft very colourful and amazingly estimated (Meaning that it doesn't go on EXACT ammounts of anything when casting.) I believe it to be the most delicate of all art forms and it makes me proud to be practicing and sharing with all of you.

That's absoultly correct, Lor! I adore the beauty of the craft. The evolution of the Gypsy Craft-the different influences...it just makes it so appealing, like it offers something for anyone who wants to learn....

When I was younger, I think it was before my grandmother took seriously ill, she told me that I should live by the superstitions she told me of and I used to wonder why she would tell me that, I often thought it was because she began losing it a little near the end of her life here but I still listened to her, she was a strange old woman. I think that even now, I find myself saluting a magpie, finding red ribbon and smiling to myself, hearing the seaguls whining and secretly saying a prayer for the death they call out. Just tiny little things that I find to be most effective for me because if I don't have magic in my life, its like I have abandoned the principles of how I was raised.
One odd thing though, my grandmother had NEVER used torot cards EVER and told me that I didn't ned to use them either. She told me that 'your face is your fortune', she would come out with things that would come true, she told me a few things that are just coming true now and she has been dead for 12 years. I tend to not use any of my tarot, people buy them for me as gifts, thinking that I will use them but really i just don't. I have been trying to do what my grandmother used to do and so far, I have had little result, I think that is because of Mice passing on though.
I'm still trying though. :)

Migizi all the things that you just mentioned relate to Gypsy magick and you can always share them for example my step dad is African and does voodoo it is no different from what my grandmother has shown me.

LV one thing that I will say about the Gypsies is that they don't use the tarot on themselves because it is against beliefs to use it on themselves or other Gypsies but they do use it for work. So your grandmother was right you don't need them your face can tell you all for example when you get old those wrinkles on your face tell your life.

I have never used tarot on myself, never will either. I find that the best way for me to venture into the future is to not know what is going to happen. My gran was a funny woman, she could just look at someone and tell them everything that is going to happen with them. She taught me a lot about myself but she always had time to be a normal grandmother type. Still, she would boil a chicken carcass and use it as soup because she would tell me that you waste nothing. That was rather gross.

Heh, I know that I don't miss her because she has never left me, same with my mother, I sometimes feel her around me when I am really upset. I made Dolly spoons to bring happiness into my home today and I could feel her around me while I did it. Its times like that when I know that things are bad but will get better.

My grandmother and mom are the same they look at someone and know what is up with them.Oh and my grandmother does the same she doesn't waste a thing but she is a terrible cook but she always manages to have hot food on the table.
One thing I know about people who have passed on is that they never go to far from us so if your ever alone don't be afraid to say hello.
