Since I was very young I have been fascinated with the myths of the ancients. I have also been practicing divination since I was a child. When I learned of the fates, I was drawn in. Then to find that they show up in several other cultures, such as the Norse wyrd sisters was amazing to me. In Catholic school, when others were saying "If God allows" I would say "If the fates allow it"! Trust me, I had some odd glances passed at me for that! Even in my young age, I felt that the Fates controlled divination. And I vaguely remember shuffling and asking that the fates guide my cards so that I may be granted wisdom concerning my situation.
When I was 13/14, I met a man named Scott. And he told me of the runes with such enthusiasm and detail that I immediately fell in love with them. He talked for what I think was about an hour. And it is where a great deal of my writings on runes came from. The conversation is imbedded in my mind.
This is where I found my connection to Odin, a very wise god. I was afraid to embrace him because of others telling me it was just a "myth" but he felt so real to me, that I secretly began a bond with him. When I did this, my gifts seemed to open up further than I could have ever imagined. I dove further and further into the runes until they finally began to "speak" to me. Then all of nature seemed to "speak" to me in the same way!
In researching celtic myth at around 15-16yo, I found a liking to Morrigan and I found referrence to "sidhe" but could not find the definition of what they were until a few years later. The word rang in my mind. I couldn't seem to forget about it. Then finally I found a forum of well-read witches and asked. They are nature spirits, just as tall as you or me. They are far stronger in magick than any mortal can be. They are beings of magick. They are the most beautiful specimens of human-like being that you could ever lay your eyes on. And when they showed themselves to a living person, they spoke great wisdom. Morrigan is their queen. And to me, and through my further research, I feel that they are the closest and most accurate description of our modern term "angel". No the Sidhe do not have bird wings, nor are they "heavenly" or "all holy" =P
I favor the sidhe and call them by the name I have found through astral projection, "mystics".
These are my own personal experiences, but it by no means are the only beings that one can bond with. I'm sorry for rambling on, but I couldn't exactly condense this info without losing the value of it.
There are many beings and deities with just as much insight. It's a matter of keeping our eyes open and letting them walk into our lives, then accepting them with open arms. The spiritual world is so very immense. It's like a library beyond all libraries, and everyone has their own subjects that they most enjoy. It's just about finding your niche, your calling!
