Need some help. My higher self is trying to contact me. *LOUD* knacks for lack of a better word all the time and my consceiousness (sp?) is brought to there with a "WHAT!?" LOL. Keep in mind I don't ever really ask "WHAT!?" to any one ... so it's kind of catching me "off guard" persay.
I feal like I'm at a wall, crouched down and getting ready to spring over the wall. My main focus in life right now apart from work is to learn magic as an Elementalist. That is, learn magic of the elements, FAWE.
I feal that my higher self is trying to contact me so nightly (and often in the morning) I try to contact the higher self through guided meditation of me shooting up into the stars to my temple, walking down into the grassy field and to the small pond and standing waist deep in the water asking questions like "Higher self, I've come, what do you want?" (In a nice tone) also "Higher self, you've been trying to contact me and so I've come here to try to understand."

You're trying to talk to yourself like its another person. Perhaps that is where you are going wrong. Your higher self is you! It's the part of you that is most connected to the spiritual and all its knowledge. Your soul/spirit is older than your physical body, therefore it has more wisdom than your mind right now, especially about spiritual matters.
You can use the rune mannaz and keno to reach the higher self. Ansuz is also a good one to reflect on.
Although not highly regarded, the book of runes by Ralph Blum is full of a lot of insight as to how the runes can be used to coincide with the Self. His book is highly controversial because it is not in the least traditional. But he took the basic principles of the runes and then used his own intuition and education to decipher them. I found it a refreshing and interesting read. He is a modern philosopher in his own right.
The book however, may help you to access your higher self through the runes. The first present I ever gave my husband (when we were still just best friends) was that book and a set of runes! He was having difficulty finding himself at the time (teenage years) and I believe that it gave him the push he needed to look within.

I'll try and make a mental note and purchase it once I re-deploy.
Also on a side note, it's a breath of fresh air to have someone so knowledgeable on said facts/issues. I been hammering around the internet looking for some diamond in the rough or some some sight unseen...and yet here you are with some great answers...I think for a purpose/reason. See, before I deployed I had a yearning for Nature and Runes and stopped both of them in pursuit of being an Elementalist, that is, someone learning of the FAWE elements; fire, air, water, earth.

You may be able to download it. If you have a smartphone, there are many e-book programs. And if you have access to a computer, the abilitiy to download will be even easier. =)

Sometimes our higher selves let us know they are there not necessarily because we are ready to connect to that side of higher spiritual awareness, but because it can drive us into more spiritual growth to GET to the point of a better connection if that makes any sense.
I agree that your higher self is essentially you, but it is also a different consciousness, one that some people never connect with during this life time.
The acknowledgement of your higher self is an awesome start, and trying to find him/her is a great move. You are open to it and that is the best possible thing to do.
I can make you one promise here..whether or not you read books on it (which never hurts and I do encourage it), when they want to get a message to you, you will get it whether you like it or not ;)
