Hello New To WhitchCraft

Hi I am new to the whole Whitch Craft thing and I am In need of some help. Don't get me wrong I have done some basic research and I really would love to do this thing and I am Ready for this but before I do I feel like I need some kind of symbol that I am not just wasting my time. Is that wrong? I was always raised in a christian home but I had a falling out with God and religion. I know I am ready for this. I just need some one to give me a shove if you know what I mean. I was hoping for some one to help me do a simple spell Like making something levitate or something. Anyway if you can help me I would be most appreciative. Also What do you call a male whitch? Thanks

Well, if you're serious about learning how to do magic then you don't start out by casting spells, you start out by learning how and why magic works.

You see, there is no such thing as an "easy" spell or a "beginner" spell. One either understands how magic works and has mastered the basics...in which case the magic will work..or you haven't done that sort of work..and no spell will work no matter how "easy" it seems.

Casting a successful spell involves much more than finding some spell on the internet or in a book, saying some words, lighting a candle, waving a wand of any of that sort of thing. In order for magic to work you need to understand how and why it works in the first place. Grounding and centering, visualization, focus and intent, energy manipulation, etc are all necessary first steps to even begin to have a chance at a spell actually working...and more importantly to prevent a spell from back-firing on you.

So, my advice for anyone who is truly serious is to start by reading a few books and practicing the exercises those books will give you. Once you have mastered the basics you won't need anyone to give you spells, you'll be able to create your own spells that will be far more effective than anything you find on the net. Here's the books I suggest:

"Before You Cast a Spell" by Carl McColman
"Spells and How They Work" by Janet and Stewart Farrar
"The Veil's Edge" by Willow Polson
"Modern Magick" by Donald Michael Kraig

As for levitation spells, well they don't work. If they did you wouldn't find us Witches standing in line at the airport to get on a plane.

A male Witch is called simply a Witch. The term Witch applies to both genders.

Hi And thanks I will start to read some of the things you listed below. also thanks for the clarification on the spells thing. I was looking at some last night and there is know way I could remember all of that. so whats the difference between Black magic and white magic. As a witch can you cast both or only one. and lastly is there anything I need to do to become a witch like a ceremony or something else.If any one has any more info then please let me know. thanks

The black vs white magick has been a debate for a long time. Most will tell you this: There is no color to magick. The only thing that matters is your intent. Now are there spells for contacting what most would consider dark forces? Yes, but some people are of the dark and for them it is good to practice these things. Life is perspective and once you can see the grand perspective, you realize all things come down to intent.

As for what makes a witch, you do not need a ceremony to define yourself. Although, it is still a lot of fun and a good way to start practicing. When I came to see the bigger picture, I did a naming ceremony. I did research and meditation to find what name I wanted to use before the ceremony. Then I went to a friend who was experienced in magick and she led me through calling the corners, invoking the god and goddess, declaring my intent to the elements, and telling my patron and matron deities the name I have chosen. This is one of many ceremonies you can do as a beginner to kind of say 'here I am, gods. Send me, please.' If you would like a copy of the full naming ceremony I used so you can do it on your own, just shoot me a mail.
