I'm a beginner and I don't have a lot of money and I'm trying to keep things on the downlow. I was wondering if there's ways to replace candles and such. I've noticed that numerous spells require one, two, or more candles, so I try to stick with only chanting spells, but there are only few.
You don't actually need spells at all, you can create a magickal result with no words or items. Making spells yourself makes it a lot cheaper, especially if you don't inculde any items, but candles can be and often are, a powerful tool in all spells.
You can buy candles really cheaply and use them sparingly, only getting one large candle and then cleansing it between spells.
Alternatively an image of a candle could theoretically be used, especially if you are good with visualization.
I personally have used a candle app on a phone that can give the rather realistic version of a candle.
It all depends on why a spell needs a candle, if it is to represent the fire element then simply the colour red would do.
Yes, you can make your own spells, rituals, etc... Almost anything.
And yes, there are many extensive substitution lists both online and in books that you can find and use, they can help you lower the cost of a spell and can also help you use items you already have around the house.
Indeed. I didn't start here, but I found I could use things I already had rather than having to buy stuff online for spells, not that I've really used many spells here yet. I started on my own, and found that I can also create my own spells.
When doing any sort of magic if you understand the basics of it you will learn that anything from a stick to a piece of string can get the job done for you it a matter of using things that your subconconiuos can use to relate to the element or a simple matter of spiritual cleansing something so you can associate it as an object you can ritually use all things in magic were created by someone somehow this is no different when we bypass the middle man who's making money off us and we make it ourselves
