I'm not sure where you get your information, but magic is not forbidden by god.

Assuming you are of a Judeo-Christian tradition, consider how much mahic Jesus used.
He transformed water into wine, raised the dead, healed the sick, transmuted his body, and ascended.

There are some very throughly mistranslated scriptures in the Old Testament. The verse about not letting a witch live? The Hebrew term refers to poisoners. The High Priests used divination to judge the will of God.

It is just more likely to meet Satan than God. And there is a good reason for that

Hmmmm... So, you say, there were never witch hunts? There were never Inquisition and hordes of people burning others just because they were told to be wizards?

It is important to remember the past to lead the path to the future.
Wizardry was always considered evil. For it didn't work for church. It took part of its power and influence from priests, and of course they didn't want it to happen.

If you read the Lavey, you will find a lot of irony in the words of wiccans - now witches are good, and werewolves heal wounds if you push them to your wounds. huhuh. That is their new truth which they spread. But is this truth that... true?

Huney, using Magick is not evil or a sin. Christianity consists of of many lies and according to my opinion, this is a Huuge lie. Magick is just the manipulation of energy I don't see the bad in practising it. And you have the right to follow which God you want to, if, you want to follow any; Christian God is not somenody to send you to Hell if you don't follow what a book says.

I've been practising Witchcraft in past lifetimes and I even deal with Magickal things in this one, but you don't see me burning and suffering in Hell.

And the word "sin" doesn't exist, it is just a concept..please don't be one of the victims...

Two things, Scareholic. First off, very little of that last reply really made any sense, but secondly, the nature of what you said about the witch hunts contradicts itself. Magic and witchcraft was never forbidden by any but men, because, as mentioned, it drew followers away from Christianity and lessened the power of the Church. If anything, Jesus Christ would've been a supporter of certain kinds of magic; after all, he would've been Jewish, and there are plenty of accounts of Rabbis using magic and rituals to perform miracles.

There are Christian witches. Unfortunately the actual messages in the Bible were heavily scewed over time by corrupt people so passages and certain commandments were taken way out of context by people who wanted to use the Bible for their own greedy purposes, which ultimately, long story short, lead to things like witch Hunts. Magic itself in the Bible is not banned. At church masses they practice a form of ritualistic magic and I've known Christian witches who work with God as their deity of choice. Most of the people that try to use the Bible to pick on witches today aren't even following the rules of their own book. I wouldn't pay too much attention to hateful articles, do what makes you happy :)

As someone who grew up in a very strict Christian household, let me tell you that spell casting and "the power of prayer" are just two ways of doing the same thing. I know exactly what you've been taught rgarding the this and its wrong, based in willfull and intentional ignorance. Its all about your intent. A bible study group will pray together for healing of a friend or family member. Is this really much different than casting a healing spell. I don't think so. The main difference is all dogma. Christians/Catholics love their rules. we wiccans.. not so much. So please, don't feel like youre a sinner for casting a spell if your intent is pure and you are causing no harm. Always seek to make something better. I can see Jesus getting behind that.
