Well there was a time for me when meditation happened effortlessly.. would peacefully sit for 6 hours and it was so effortlessly slip into trancendental state.. now i am having a lot of trouble in making my head become thoughtless.. please suggest me something to get back that focus.. on the top of that.. my head feels heavy all the time as if having a hangover.. laden with some of the other thought.. its so frustrating..

I would suggest not trying to 'clear' your head while meditating, but instead, let your thoughts flow. Be aware of the thoughts you are having, and slowly let yourself wind down. Don't try to force it.
Yes I have tried doing that, but i get lost and start thinking again and that awareness is just on and off all the time.. Plus my head literally starts hurting when i try to become aware.. and till the time I am..
I simply don't understand where am I going wrong and how common is it for something like this to happen to you?

The problem may be that you're trying too hard to relax, therefore causing extra problems for yourself. I know that sometimes, I can't meditate to save the life of me, but sitting in silence is still helpful, even if you can't properly meditate. Start small. Don't get stressed about it because that will only make it harder for you. Just try and relax.
I would reccommend just sitting in silence for a few minutes. Don't consiously try to meditate. Let yourself think, and pay attention to what you're thinking about. Instead of trying to clear your thought, listen to what they have to say. It might be the silliest thing in the world, but sometimes you just have to listen to yourself. Don't push it for too long. Only a few minutes.
