Tarot Decks

I wanted to know how everyone has chosen their prefered decks and how many decks you own all together? I'm just curious to see what others are doing.

I bought myself a deck some years ago. It's the Witches Tarot, with the Devil replaced by the Horned One. A couple of others have been changed, too, but for the life of me, I can't remember which ones. It's served me well over the years :)

All together I just own one deck, though I might consider a second one if the right one comes along.

I have about fifteen decks altogether, but only use the Wildwood Tarot backed up with the Druid Plant Oracle (ok, not really a tarot deck but I find they work well together). The other cards I collect just because I enjoy the artwork.

How about yourself? What decks do you favour?

Honestly, the reason I brought up this topic is because I only have one tart deck and I've been using it for years but I find myself ashamed of it's theme now, especially since some people now ask me what deck I'm using when I do readings. Like I still love the colours and artwork of it but I feel like if people knew what type of deck I used they wouldn't take me seriously anymore... And now I've found two new decks that I really like and I can't choose which one I want out of the two of them! They both have pros and cons but the cons aren't enough to make me not want them. What do I do?!?!?

Personally, I'd suggest using the deck you've been using for a while, as you've built up a connection to them. Doesn't matter what anyone else thinks about your choice, you have a rapport with them.

If you are really unhappy with using those cards for professional readings, and have to make a choice between two others for replacements, you could ask your current deck which new set you should get. Or use a pendulum if you want a clearer 'yes/no' answer.

I don't know why I never even thought of that. Thank you so much for your advice.

My first deck was RWS, since so many others are based on or closely related to it, conceptually. It happened to come with a Thoth deck, which I have only recently opened to thumb through.

I had also picked up a BOTA deck for study, along with learning the intricacies of the symbolism.

And I have since been gifted another close variation on the RWS deck.

But since I've started studying the occultic correspondences with the tarot deck, I've picked up the Golden Dawn deck ... along with two books on the subject of occult symbolism in the tarot.

My opinion on wanting the two decks: Buy one. Save up a bit, and buy the other. You may find one works for one application better than the other.

I've gone back and forth with the two new decks and have since decided which one I want after hearing people say that the makers are using cheap materials and their cards are falling apart... Especially when the full deck (78 cards) is $50+ without tax and shipping. AND ontop of that they screwed up the numbering on Justice and are not willing to reprint the cards with the correct number.... Just kinda slowly pilled up into a big thing of Nope! And I have heard nothing but good reviews for the other deck plus they're cheaper... So all in all IF I get another deck it will be one and not the other... But thanks for adding in your two cents.

Holy cow that's a list of flaws that I agree are intolerable!
