I kept my heart in my pocket ready to give it to him. I turned to see him crying, his beautiful body heaving with every sob. I took him in my arms and stroked his hair. He took my hand to his chest so I could feel the thump. But there was no thump not even a sound. His face was pale and blood stained his chest. His eyes were open to mine, empty but not dead. I took his face in my hands, and my heart in his lap, and kissed him. The color came back to his face, and his eyes enlightened once more.
