The Word magick itself comes from the Zoroastrian priests of ancient Persia; they were called Magi. The Magi were famous for their powers of healing adn divination - especially astrology. They believed that the cosmos was alive and Divine. The 'Three Wise Men' who brought gifts to Jesus were Persian Magi. The Persian word magus (means 'priest' and 'fire worshipers') was adpopted into Greek as magos ('wise one', wizard or jugler')
