Arithmomancy as you guessed numbers.
A form of Divination in which you interprete the numbers, figures and letters values. It is considered an older form of Numerology.

Letters of the alphabet were given number values.

Words then became numbers when their letter values were added together. People's names, in particular, were considered to have special significance in determining futurity.

When I was about 14 one of my classmates took my name(which is long I assure you)and added all the numbers and told me something about my self.
