Ki, also spelled Chi or Qi, in Chinese philosophy is believed to be the life force or spiritual energy present in every living thing. (In Hindu beliefs this is called Prana). Traditional Chinese medicine is based on this concept. The Yin/Yang are the positive and negative energies of Ki and when they are out of balance then illness can occur. The herbal treatments that Chinese medicine uses are designed to bring the Yin and Yang back into balance.

Is it real? That would depend entirely I suppose on your personal beliefs. It is not something which can be proven by any specific means.

Is it dangerous? No, it is a perfectly normal part of the human being. The only sort of danger here, according to Traditional Chinese Medicine, is if the Yin and Yang get out of balance and cause illness.

Ki is basically your spiritual energy and you can use as you wish.
