I have pounds of cut leaves of herbs.
but I tried to burn it, it makes only smokes and doesn't burn well. Should I put some fuel or make fire with wood sticks?
Give me some tips.
I burnt it in pot.

Leaves tend to make a lot of smoke when burned, in general. People who have burned yard waste know this well. If they're wet, they'll smoke even more than that. There's just not really a good way around how much they'll smoke. It's partly why herbs burned for ritual are either used in very small quantities, such as a pinch sprinkled onto a coal, or in smoke cleansing bundles.

  1. To add to what prsona said, for some rituals, the smoke is part of the goal. For instance in some shamanic practices, its believed that spirits could communicate through "images" or the shamans interpretation of the smoke. Even when the smoke wasnt coming from a huge fire. For some, the direction the smoke is traveling, how the smoke is moving, or in general how it may be "dancing" has meaning.
