AP vs Imagination

So, I have tried to Astral Project a few times now, and it SEEMS to work, but there’s a few problems:
1) I sometimes see things that aren’t actually there in real life, or objects that are there, but I see them in a different place than where they actually are.
2) When astral projecting last time, I have tried to read a title of a book that I never really noticed, and I did read part of the title, but the other part I just couldn’t seem, and all I saw from the name of the author clearly was just one letter.
3) Last time when astral projecting, I traveled a bit further than usual, and flew over a canal pretty close to my house with a hill close by. Next day, I visited that same place (physically), and the hill looked different from the astral version of it
4)during astral projection, if I start at my physical body, my mind seems to start switching between my astral and physical self.
So now I’m questioning myself: Do I actually astral project, or is it just my imagination??

Numbers 1 through 3:
Perception of physical things can change considerably when in such a state. It is much more difficult to read, because your perception is much more attuned to symbolic and emotional meanings rather than strictly logical. It's the same reason why trying to read something in a dream is all but impossible. I'm not saying AP is a dream, but that perceptions can be very similar.

Additionally, people with extensive experience will explain that some things are different because at a given moment, one may find themselves at a point in the past or future in that same location, or some metaphysical aspect may be different. As for how a hill seemed different, it could have been partly your mode of travel and the perspective from which you saw the hill.

As for number 4, here's my take: My favorite advice is to not look at your body, because it draws you back in. In stead, get out and immediately begin your journey. Get away from your physical location the first instant you realize you have separated.
