do you think binding spells are a good idea on potions? for instance potions that restore magical ability.

Let me start out by saying that you don't need an outside substance to "restore magical abilities". Your "abilities" are inborn and are with you for life. Your understanding and applicationof these "abilities" may change and decreaseover time, but they are still there.

I'm confused on what you'reasking. Restoration is different than binding. You can bind a broken string to a stick but it won't restore the string.

If you could provide some clarity we'd greatly appreciate it.
