Some Can't AP?

Is it possible some people just can't astral project? I have been trying to astral project for four years , and I have had no results other than just not being able to do it. There is a chance that I may just be doing something wrong, but I worry that I am just unable to project. Is there anything I can do?

All input is greatly appreciated!

Blessed be.

It depends on how you see it.

Some people can AP without leaving their bodies. They are aware of the physical and the astral body at the same time. Maybe you are experiencing something like this.

Personally I believe anyone can astral project, especially if they are a patient person. Astral projection experiences are very different and personal to each person who tries it. It could take maybe a month for one to detach from their body or even years, it depends on the person and it is different for everyone. One thing may be helping someone to detach from their physical body in just a few minutes but for you it may be doing absolutely nothing, so as stated it is different for everyone. Have you tried new methods? Your problem may lie where you continue to use the same few methods and you may need to find a new technique to use. Astral projection requires a lot of patience, four years is actually quite impressive! Most people give up way before that time.

I've tried many techniques, such as the rope techniqueand the role over one just to name a few.

Astral Projection and an out-of-body experience are not necessarily the same thing. While many have the goal of a fully immersive experience, an understanding can be had that astral projection is an extension of the awareness into the realm of the non-physical. In this way, a guided visualization is considered a method of peeking into astral things (Some call it Pathwalking -- a definition of a term borrowed from Kabbalah, not used until 20th Century Neo Paganism). However, many still consider it not to be projection until a 'separation' is experienced -- that is, and out-of-body experience.

I think, in a sense, that practiced journeying through deliberate or guided visualization can lead to a more immersive experience. However, I also believe at least most of the same things can be accomplished with or without a fully sensed journey into the astral.

Prsona did a fantastic job at explaining this. I'll put my two cents into the pot. Bear with me. I'll probably go all over the place.

I see astral projection as being an expansion of one's own consciousness to being more than or beyond one's own immediate surrounding or conscious awareness. That awareness could potentially be what is physically around you. But who wants to see that when they are astral projecting? Odds are what you experience is often a projection of what you conjure. This is why when you do say for example a guided meditation you are following along with what's being guided and visualizing it along th way. Resulting in you coming out to what your goal is which is (x). This placing an amount of imagination as being a key factor to the experience of astral projection.

AP does not necessarily mean an out of body experience. Can it be? Yes. But not always. I'll explain in part with how I am. I often struggle with actually "stepping out" because I'm so tied to my mind. (Cheers for being a virgo/monkey - double whammy). Anyways. So because of this i often don't have experiences that would involve a more or less out of body experience. So when i do have a. Experience i often bring it to me. It's kind of weird how i have to do it. Say you are walking down a road and each step you move forward. Physically getting closer to the end where you are going. You move. For me it's the opposite. I move but don't go anywhere. Thw act of motion is there. But the change of view most subtle is pulled to me as if the world were to move under me. Now keeping this connection to mind and body i have i can do what is called pathwalking. Which is walking two worlds at once (thank you Raven Kaldera for helping give an understanding to what i do). So with this you may litterally walk and meld with another world (details are finite and will be quite a long explanation so I'll omit for now) pulling that world to you and what you see of that world may overlap what you should physically see. This is also another sense of astral projection bordering etheric projection. So if you don't have this kind of problem and freely roam about then in that respect it can be an obe.

But if you astral project and your imagination conjures the world how do you go to another world then? Good question, Jimmy. Well that's actually a funny factor. You can be pulled to another but what you see still hs a processing factor. Meaning it's still your (sub-)conscious mind giving imagery. You can have a very real experience with another person through a shared projection or with a deity, but your mind still shows you what's being processed. A shared experience can be intentional or accidental/unintentional. A shared experience as such happens because (two) mind are expanded beyond their respective immediate conscious awareness and reach out like a blanket and touch. They blend into a single scene experienced by (both) parties.

Astral projection can be what i call a gateway and be achieved by a gateway. Keeping in mind the concious awareness aspect, one way that ap can be achieved is by gateways. A common one a lot of people may not reaize they do is lucid dream. Lucid dreaming is simply put a state of conscious aware of one's state of dreaming. If controlled well enough one can use this state as a means to go beyond this into astral projection. Similar idea as the rope trick. Or maybe even better - guided meditation. You dream and come to a lucid state. Now you can learn to control it. Shape and mold. Go where you want to. Do as you see fit. Now that you can AP you can step further out and take your spiritual body to go out with. This is where astral projection being a gateway comes to play. Im not going to focus on it right now, but in short there's a fine separatio. From astral projection and a projection with one's spirit. This other being the spirit projction is etheric projection. Astral is to the mind as etheric is to spirit. More often thn not etheric projection would actually be full on an out of body experience. Or unless you're like me amd struggle with a physical mental tie then you're stuck in a awkward position being kind of out - kind of not.

AP can be done in many ways. One method may not work for you but that doesn't mean you can't do it. Also jut because a method doesnt work for you does not mean it will not work. It may take time and practice to get there. Consistency can very well be a key factor. Don't get frustrated and aggravated because it's not working. Don't beat yourself up for it either. I like to do different methods. Chakra based, a falling visualization, breathing techniques, entering an altered state of consciousness. Listening to certain tones and melodies helps time to time. Oh and it may also help you to ground and centre.
