Why Hoodoo?

I have a few questions for those long term hoodoo practitioners. These can be answered here or you can mail me, whatever works for you.

1)why do you practice Hoodoo?

2)what is Hoodoo to you? as in what does it mean for you, not the literal definition

3) Favorite thing about the form of magic?

4)do you personally include the lord yahweh (christian God) in your Hoodoo workings?

5) Where did you learn your workings?

1. I practice hoodoo because it's easy. I hate ceremonial and elaborate stuff, I enjoy the simplicity of folk magic without all the extra stuff. I also feel drawn to it as an African American woman because it's the craft of my ancestors. I have lineage from Haiti and Louisiana so it just feels more natural for me to go this route. When I started as a young teen I really was not interested in celtic, english, roman, greek. stuff that was so prevalent in Wicca.

2. Hoodoo is folk magic, it's using what you have to make your magic work. Meaning 5% household and kitchen items and 95% pure intent

3. My fav thing is that it's simple and that to me makes it more effective. Also it's alive and well. It's not a resurgence of old timey practices like sone Neo-Pagan paths. It's how it is now as it was 200 years ago

4. Personally I do not. I dont know if I believe in god(s) at all.

5. Books, youtube, and random things on the internet. Unfortunately I don't have contact with anyone in my family past my grandparents so I have no way of knowing if any of them practiced let alone taught it.
