I'm thinking about making a new type of spell work that involves making musical notes mean more than just a sound. I'll admit, I've been inspired by dnd bard class. But I want to know what you guys think. This is how it will work: each note will have a few meanings. If it's sharp, it shall have a negative meaning. Sharp would be positive. Natural would be neutral. And you can put them together to make a spell. For example: let's say the A note meant prosperity, and health. A# could be used for making someone sick. You would play that note while visualizing the spell coming into fruition. Ab could be a hearing spell. And just A would make... I'm not quite sure. Perhaps you guys can help me flush this out? Thank you
really if it works for you go for it. music has been used in magick for a long time. people also make their own symbols and infuse them with energy to use in their castings, so if it works for you use it.
Sound and music have both been a part of magic for a long time, and even modern new-age practices incorporate it. I would suggest looking into sound healing, a search or two might yield some useful material to help you along.
Some study in chant and tone might also help, as the words and tones might be adaptable. Different notes and different words resonate with different chakras (and sometimes organs) of the body. You can test this by trying to chant different notes yourself to see where you feel it resonate in your body.
For example a base, open mouthed ah (long, drawn out like aaaaaaaah) might resonate deep in the belly, while a higher toned tenor or alto ooooo (oo like in toot) might resonate more towards the nasal/third eye area.
