If you do want a familiar, this is my take on them: you can get an animal (from a pet store, a shelter, a friend, etc.) and do a spell to bond with this animal, to make them your familiar. Some Witches also believe that you can find an animal that you just naturally bond with, and that animal is your familiar.
Physical animals are not familiars. The term 'familiar' is short for 'familiar spirit.' People who work with a familiar either work with a spirit which cmame to them for the purpose, or with a created entity as in a thougtform.
The idea of a familiar being a physical animal is a very old misconception which has been passed down in fictional lore such as fairy tales.
Yes they are all true but back in the day when witches were being hunted if anyone doesn't know this then Thee will tell. When witches were being hunted many people believe that a witch had a third nipple. Their families would come out and suck on it as it would consume blood from the nipple. The witch would have imps and other things as a familiar Now monder day uses physical animales to help with their spells and such. It could be a bird, cat, hamster or even a dog for that matter. Thee has a cat that helps thee with spells and such. Ye will need to be patients. A cat is most likely not Ye familiar. Ye will know if ye had found it familie if it is a strong bond between ye all
The third nipple thing was part of superstitions brought up by witch hunters. It was one of those things, from what I remember, they'd claim a mole or something similar was a third nipple so they could arrest the accused witch. Torture usually followed so that a confession could be extracted, then an execution.
It is possible that old timey witches used imps and such as familiars. It's possible that imps and such still see use as familiars. That doesn't distract from the fact that a familiar is a spirit rather than a physical animal.
Huh, I was always under the impression that familiars were physical animals that some Witches chose and bonded with. I suppose I was incorrect about that. I apologize. Disregard my previous statement, then.
dont know if this will help but was just reading a book on thought forms and it was saying that the cat is not the fermaler it is just a holder so to me you could just invoke a spirit in to the cat but I could b wrong. gods bless
