SilverRain, I don't completely agree with itsatrap, but to remember the loved ones is to show how much it hurt you. Anyway, did anyone you know personally become deceased in that accident?
Because if you don't, it's like celebrating of Jesus on Christmas without being a Christian. I celebrate it too, because it's my dad's birthday on that day, and its a free holiday so I say why not.
But 9/11 is a sad thing. Why remember it?

To bring tribute to the dead, to show that they are not yet forgotten from our hearts. Many cultures do this and it is a tradition more should at times honour, for without death there would be no life.

Why does it all have to be about winning, losing?Life is to great to be erased for such small petty things.People are so concered with world of flesh they forgot about world of spirit. There hearts are led by worldy, egoistic things.Honoring the spirit of dead is truly great act.May there souls find peace and clam.

Why not just pray for them every night instead of celebrating their deaths? =| Surely that would be better?

It would be better, unfortunately most people are so caught up in their own lies in life that they don't have the time to give tribute, not even before they go to bed. Everyone brings tribute in their own way, i personally do it on the day of the dead, but to each his own. We all work in different ways, but i can promise you the dead appreciate it when they see quite a few people honouring them at the same time, for joint conciousness is far more powerfull and effective than most forms of singular praise.
