Hi, guys! I was just wondering how exactly I go about doing astral projection. I've tried before; I listen to drum music and go deep into trance, but I can't seem to feel any vibrations. I've tried to exit my body, too, and again, I was unsuccessful.

I've heard some people say that you could project through lucid dreams, is thay true? And what exactly is the astral plane like? Like appearance, feelings, talking to deities, etc.? How is it done, especially the part where the exiting occurs?

I always start to feel the vibrations throughout my body, but I always screw it up because I get too excited.

The steps I use are:
1. Lay down on a flat surface (bed, floor, etc.)

2.Get comfortable and relax all your muscles. You can do this by starting to relax your toes and then slowly moving higher up on your body. (I usually put a pillow under my knees too, so I relieve some back discomfort.)

3.Clear your mind of all your thoughts. When I do this I imagine myself throwing all my thoughts behind a door, and then shutting that door. This helps me to stop thinking about everything.

4.Be patient, it may take a while for the vibrations to start. From what iv'e read most people experience the vibrations in their chest or face first, but I feel it in my hands before it spreads to the rest of my body.

5. When the vibrations start eventually you will feel the vibrations lifting you up, and that's when you're astral traveling. You will be connected to your body with a silver cord, so you will always be able to find your way back.

This is just one of the methods to astral travel though, so there might be another way that works better for you.

I don't do specific astral projection, but I have done a lot of other forms of projection (pathwalking, journeying, etc) in the past. I don't tend to go the vibrational route.

Sometimes, for me, I find that once I get in a trance or altered state- movements and rhythm help me to loose myself from my physical body. This can involve swaying, rocking back and forth, dancing or even assuming specific poses while there is a beat. As I focus in on the beat, attuning my movements to match the rhythm, I simply visualize myself being pulled or lifted from my physical being. It feels much like a floating sensation to me, as though the more I focus on it the lighter I become. Almost like a headrush. I work to focus solely on that sensation until it comes to fruition.

Sometimes I take the approach of "climbing Yggdrasil", the Great Tree. I stand and plant my feet into the ground and visualize them like the great roots reaching down into the earth. I raise my hands above my head into the sky, and they act as they swaying branches of the tree. As I listen to something rhythmic, I ripple my body and allow myself to "ascend" or project upwards, past the branches and to the specific place I'm trying to project.

You might try something other than laying down or being in an extremely comfortable position when you project. Some people are more grounded than others, and it may take more for you to project. Being too comfortable can make you sleepy or drowsy and sometimes not help you at all. At least from my experience.
