Hello, I am new and seeking "in the like" for guidance, study, and furthering the craft. I say study as I am still researching the wide ranges of witchcraft, wicca, belief systems, deities etc...and where I fit in. Some would say I am a solitary eclectic Wiccan at this juncture. I believe in divination. I do tarot readings. I am also an Aries / Fire sign. I have a strong connection with Nature. I have always known I was different, only as of now I try to find my place as a witch. In my life I have gained new friendships only to learn later they too were witches. I find this to be fascinating. I beleive that those "in the like" always find each other. I look forward to meeting new people as I continue to study and find my path. :)
Having a path is not mandatory. In fact, until now, I went a long time just exploring anything I thought was interesting. There is also a way to craft your own path, taking bits and pieces of existing things and making it your own way and customs.
There are many paths to walk. From Christianity all the way to Hinduism. You just have to find the one where you connect the most with. You could be polytheistic, monotheistic, or completely atheist and still practice the occult. It all depends on which you feel most comfortable with. Good luck to you and brightest blessings!
Thank you very much Reginleif. I am definately polytheistic. My confusion is trying to find the tradiiton of witchcraft that is a true fit. I feel I must study, research and learn more in order to have a better understanding before I come to this realization. I might be wrong. So for now , I do not know what else to call myself....eclectic Wiccan. I wonder does every witch go throught this, during self discovery?
Well, since you're polytheistic, there are a number of pantheons you could fall into. Or you could be completely eclectic and work with a number of deities from different pantheons!
I feel that I see the divine as a trilogy. The God, Goddess combined together creating the Divine Spirit. Is it true I should not mix pantheons "example Greek and Egyptian" because it could be contradictory to the workings I might do? It is all confusing. Sorry for the numerous questions. It is obvious I am trying to understand it all.:/ I appreciate and welcome all responses it is quite helpful.
