The problem with "Draconic Wicca" or "Dragon Wicca" is that there is very little reliable information out there on which to base a practice. Most often people are basing their practice on the book "Dancing With Dragons" by D.J. Conway. Conway is not considered a reliable author, and her book on Dragons is full of inaccuracies and misinformation. Much of what she has written is just plain fiction.

Likewise, in looking at the websites mentioned, many of those sites are using Conway as the basis for their practice. So they too are suspect. And some of them are simply full of ridiculous claims such as this one: " The reason it is called Draconin "Wicca" is because of the similarities to the wiccan religion of today. This religion was originally brought to Earth by the blessed races when Atlantis was formed. The name of the religion itself cannot be pronounced in present English certainly not spelled. This religion was taken away from the Atlantians and Atlantis destroyed. The druids were the descendants of the Old Religion and passed on by mouth."

Understand that dragons do not exist on the physical plane. They are energy beings that can be sensed, negotiated with, or worked with in some fashion. But there really isn't much in writing to help you out with this. You might want to talk to Nekoshema who posts frequently to these boards. I believe she has worked with dragons before.

The book of Revelation depicts Satan as a huge red dragon with 7 heads and 10 horns. I take it as being either a form Satan can take or a form he has on a certain spiritual plane(s). I wonder whether Satan is at all related to your connection to dragons?

Fanboy, the Book of Revelations was written approximately 2000 years ago. Dragons in mythology have existed in China for at least double that and are honored there to this day. What is the better source? You're comment is extremely close minded and inappropriate in a Magick community within a Wiccan forum section.

I'm not trying to cause trouble, I know this is the Wiccan forum, I didn't realize that meant all replies to the thread had to be Wiccan. As for the more reliable source, again I don't know, dragons are also mentioned in the Old Testament which is older than Revelation.

I guess all I can do is claim ignorance, I'm not saying the OP's connection to dragons isn't related to Chinese dragons or a Wiccan dragon path, it's just my previous post occurred to me and I thought it might be relevant. I'll be more careful in future about keeping to the forum theme when posting, as long as I haven't offended you so much that I get gagged or banned.

Ah wait, I think I see what's going on here. Don't assume I'm some Evangelist Christian just because I mention Revelation. I didn't mean a connection to Satan in a negative light - kind of the opposite, in fact. I'm hoping I'm now interpreting your reaction correctly.

Lark,I have not read Conway, but I hugged myself with laughter at your quotation from her book! "Ancient" Wicca?
It is less than a hundred years old!

Actually the quotation was from one of the websites offered as good resources. But you're absolutely correct.

Wicca, of course, isn't ancient at all. It is largely based on the books "The Witch-Cult in Western Europe" and "The God of the Witches" by Margaret Murray which were written in the 1930's. Gerald Gardner was a great fan of Murray's and in the 1940's he started his own Tradition basing much of his practice on ceremonial magic, Masonic rituals, folk magic, and Murray. Thank goodness most Wiccans have finally moved away from the "Wicca is ancient" stance these days and come to realize that it doesn't matter how old it is, only that as a spiritual path/religion it works for the person following it.

Yes, indeed. As I have always posted on this site; you may believe anything you wish. And most paths lead to the same conclusion anyway!
Murray was rather discredited, even by Gardner, and very much so by Alex Sanders.Still, many do believe in her writings.

Hello, lovely. I see someone already responded, but I also have somewhere you can go. On YouTube there's a girl named Dragonfeather369. She is a great source of information.
