My feline is suffering...

Me and my boyfriend had rescue her back in late August. She was very badly beaten and her left eye was nearly closed. We took her in, bathed her, fed her, and gave her a good home. She had a good recooperation and was such a loveable, hyper kitten since.

In December we found out from the vet that she had feline leukemia, but it wouldn't affect her until the next few years. A few weeks ago she starting getting ill, vomitting all of her food and could barely breathe. The vet said it was pneumonia, so he kept giving her antibiotics. The vomitting is gone, but now her respiratory's gotten worse; she keeps breathing through her mouth. Just today the vet told us that fluid had gotten into her lungs. He pumped some out, but said it will still regenerate.

All I ask is for everyone's blessings... I have asked an animal healer what I can do, so I've been trying to do the same process he does. I know I can't cure the leukemia, but for some miracle, I want to at least have her illness gone. I am currently giving her lasix medication.

She's almost a year old, her birthday is April 6th. The vet considered putting her down, but I don't want to...

Thank you SO much, rogelio and I am so sorry that yours passed away last night. I don't know how I would be able to handle that, especially being so attached now.

For your sake and the cat, put her down. I know its hard but take it from someone who made the mistake of NOT putting down a cat with feline lukemia...I watched her die a slow painful death, all vets were closed. She spent 4 hours urinating without control, throwing up, and meowing in pain. She even convulsed just before she finally let go and was conscious the entire time, meowing as her body shook. I've seen animals die, but I've never seen something so horrid. I had nightmares of it, I was badly shaken up, I even suffered slight shock (went cold, felt emotionally numb, and wouldn't stop shaking) and I felt guilty for a long time. If you love her, put her down. The cat I had was also a rescue, died at 2 years old.
