You cannot "summon" any God or Goddess. You may ask for their help. Call on the name of your chosen Goddess, and ask! And remember that Hera has had many names over many centuries; from Isis to Venus!
Keep in mind that to "summon" is to "command", and that you cannot do.

I might disagree here if only to point out that in attempting to command any such powerful spirit or entity you will typically run into resistance unless they want to come along and teach you a thing or two, or otherwise take pity on a naivety.

Otherwise, you can do whatever you feel is appropriate. Take some time to learn about Hera, and what sort of offerings she enjoys or how she prefers to be approached. Develop a bond first through an understanding of her nature, and then make an offering in this manner (could be something as simple as flower petals, wine in a bowl, etc. though I'm not familiar with specifics for hera) and ask her for her blessing or wisdom and so forth. You never know what kind of answer you'll get.

It's often wise to take precautions to protect yourself magically as well in these circumstances. However, naked devotion (not going in armed and armoured, in a manner of speaking) is sometimes appreciated by spirits and gods (goddesses) as well.

This is the BEST source I have ever found on greek mythology.

It is what I use. At the bottom are actual ancient hymns. Use them wisely!

Venus and Iris are neither of Hera's many names. If you want to use another one of her names you could use Juno her counterparts name.

You do realize that this thread has not been posted to since 2011, don't you? I'm not certain the OP is interested anymore.

The best thing you can do is make sure with a altar you do not have any other gods on her altar and make sure she faces North and if you do have like Athena or Artemis they have to be set behind her. She does not have any issues with Artemis or Athena. She actually truly loves them like her own children. She loves it when you give her flowers and it doesn't matter what kind of flowers you give her as long as they're beautiful and healthy and you love them too and you basically tell her that you want to thank her for the stuff she gave you today or you just want to give it to her because it's mother's Day or you feel like you should actually give her some flowers because you're a really good person. If it's Christmas or Valentine's Day you can actually give her stuff because you're just doing it because you appreciate what she's done for you and you're just being nice and loving and you're having her participate in Christmas like with family and everything else. She is very very clingy. Like for example you have to clean your house or organize stuff in your home dust your home. She is that clean and she's very loving person she will give you hugs here and there and it's very touching trust me. I do work with her and I love working with her. It's just right now I'm kind of having trouble with Freya because of Hera. Hera will get jealous but also you have to let her know in no disrespect you have a life to live and she will always be in your heart. But also you can't always pay attention to her you have to pay attention to your life and live it. If not you are going to go ape shit and your life is going to go downhill and it's not good and Hera does understand that. I did give her a big size stuffed animal that is a peacock and she really loves it. But I did give her that because she actually helped me with something and I did appreciate what she did. But also to give them gifts you end up finding something that catches your eye and it's not what you need or what you want. It's actually if you have a feeling that you should get it. Then that's when you know that it goes to Hera not yourself and you cannot do this to bribe her. She definitely hates it when you bribe her. I really do hope this helps and also she does get overly protective when it comes to her favorite followers. She has done that with me multiple times and I really don't mind it to be honest with you because she does it as a mother to protect me and that's what she does with women that appreciates her and puts her as a number one deal in their life.

Also I do want to mention that someone said something about you cannot summon gods or goddesses. You are definitely correct you cannot and I repeat you cannot summon gods or goddesses it doesn't matter who it is you cannot do that. It's more like saying you do this now I own you and they hate that. They don't do commands so definitely avoid on summoning Hera and she is always listening and appreciate her. You will definitely know if she's nearby. When I know she's nearby she'll give me a hug or all smell like ancient perfume. Like for example like fruits and stuff like that and you know how like when your grandma or your aunt would wear this certain perfume? Well that's what it kind of smells like in a way. But in a fruity way. You'll definitely know she's nearby. But if you're new at all this and you end up getting bonded with her. Be prepared when she leaves to do her own thing you will feel like you lost someone and it sucks trust me. But she's trying to teach you you can't always count on her to do everything. It's kind of like kicking the bird out of the nest and let them fly on their own. It's kind of like that you got to learn how to do your own little power on your own and not count on her
