Electric Candles?

Ok, so I'm off to Uni in September, and obviously want to carry on my magical practices, but the Halls of Residences don't allow real candles. Would it be alright for me to use electric candles instead of real ones on my altar? just want to check...

yes you can. really if you want to you could try vizualizing that they are real or that they are lit while you are going through your ritual

Electric candles are fine. But I would add something natural to represent fire as well. Sunstones are my preference.

Candles are for ceremonial purposes. But they are only tools of focus. A flame can be very mezmorizing. I wouldn't suggest staring at a lightbulb though, it may give you quite the headache!

There are many ways to create a point of focus. Buddhist mandalas are great to use. Google images for "buddhist mandala" and pick one you like. There are posters you can purchase as well. If you can't make up your mind, calendars are a great way to get 12 smaller mandalas in full color to pick and choose from depending on your mood.

Yes, why not? As WhiteRaven says, a real candle flame can be "mesmerising". But electric candles can still represent the Lord and Lady. Even two photographs of lighted candles can work. Some use nothing at all! Not even an altar! Over the years they have practised until they do not need any "aids"! I still have an altar, with all the "trimmings". Perhaps I don't really need them; but I like them!

Thanks, that helps, I wouldn't actually use them in a spell, I would be imagining the flames, but I just prefer to have candles on my altar, it is a matter of focus.
