Samhain solitary ritual

This is a ritual I wrote myself for everyone who is solitary in the coven. You can modify this to your liking.

You'll need: An Athame or wand (to cast the circle)
A mirror/ bowl of water (water preferred)
Incense (Samhain is good, but go with a scent you like)
A few candles (black or white, or purple)
A small offering
Pen and paper

(i'm leaving this first part generic so it's applicable to all)
Cleanse the area by smudge or besom
Set your altar in the north
Cast the circle
Call the Quarters
Invoke your deities

At this time you say a Samhain prayer, or chant, dance, sing etc.
Here's a little something I wrote for this occasion:

"Samhain night
full of fright
full of mystery.
Change the fright to
love and light
as we sing of the nights history.

Candles burn, goblins roam, oranges spiked with cloves. A long lost history no longer a mystery and no signs of fears or woes. To honor the passed, life does not last as the does turn. We celebrate now, the forgotten song of those who came before us. In their honor we do ask, Protect us from all that can harm us."

Light your candles and take a moment to be silent in honor of those before you.

Now touch your forehead to the mirror (or anoint your forehead with the water) and meditate a few minutes with water or mirror in front of you. Feel yourself opening to everything around you. Feel the air current and the heat from the candles.

Light your incense now, then go back to meditating.

When you find yourself totally relaxed begin thinking about past lives. What are they, what would a past life do for your knowledge? What things could you start to remember, or hope to remember? What would it all mean to you and how would you incorporate the new knowledge gained into your life?

Now open your eyes and stare at an angle at the bowl of water or mirror in front of you.

What do you see? If you see nothing continue to watch the reflection. If after 15 minutes you do not see anything record your feelings of the event. You can always try again another day. If you did see something record everything you saw i.e.: Landscape, clothes, colors of the eyes, hair and style of the hair, style of the clothes, the era you believe the life was in, facial features etc....

Give your offering in honor of the departed once you've done the above.

Dismiss the quarters and deities giving them thanks and close the circle.

Hope you all enjoy!

Merry Samhain
