A bit of news. For those on the site who are interested in Heathenry, or working with Loki/Jotun in your magickal/spiritual paths: I have heard that Freya Aswynn, Kveldulf Gundarsson, and Diana Paxson, at this year's Trothmoot, protested the ban on Loki, got it repealed, and held a private blot to him at the event. It's still in question as to whether it is formally repealed or not. But regardless, this is a giant step forward in the Heathen community. Hail!

I know, right?

The idea is to get them to recognize the ban as being obscene. There's a lot of division in the Heathen community between those who only work with the Aesir/Vanir and those who work with Lokis kin and the Jotun. :) how cool it would be to bring the entire community together with no more prejudice on theology or individual practices.

Wait- why was there a Loki ban? I'm unfamiliar with Norse mythology anyway, without there being modern spins in the yarn

Girl, at large gatherings where blots and offerings are made to the Gods- Loki was banned from being honored there, essentially because some Heathens view him as a bad guy (oversimplification but you understand my point). Lokeans and those who do work with Loki and the Jotun tend to get a lot of discrimination. But it looks like things are on the upside if three elders in the Heathen community stood up against the ban.

Well that's great! I feel like Loki would be a great, but complicated, god to work with

News.

A posting from Victoria Clare, Troth Rede Steerswoman essentially has said that while the Troth will not dictate who a person or individual honors- Loki is not allowed at several troth-events because they wish to keep the "frith within the organization", that allowing him causes discontentment in the Troth, and that those who work towards removing the ban are the minority group. The Rede has agreed to review the language, but that doesn't mean we can expect any changes.

Essentially, to me, it would appear that while they were polite and accepting when there were elders protesting at the event- they are not planning on changing much now that it's not a public ordeal. Regardless, I am happy someone stood up to the ban and I hope it will be removed one day.

I personally think they should read Lokasenna and see what happens when Loki isn't allowed somewhere and he goes anyways. :) but I keep positive that one say Lokeans will be allowed to honor their Gods like any other heathen.

I'll update if there's more news.

Thank you for the update and although it appears nothing is to be changing much we will remain hopeful!
