Blessings! I am Claudia Delgado - Yaya Nkisi, a Priestess and Ozainista of the Afro-Brazilian Quimbanda religious tradition.The American Quimbanda Munanzo is the first formally established Quimbanda Munanzo in the United States of America, and is registered with the State of California and the IRS as a non-profit religious organization. Additionally, the American Quimbanda Munanzo is the first and only Quimbanda Munanzo, founded by a Priestess of the original Afro-Brazilian Quimbanda Religion, brought to the United States of America by the Montenegro Family in the 1920's. We follow a 149 year old religious tradition of Latin American Spiritualism and a 527 year old religious tradition of Congolese gnostic mysticism. My Tata is Carlos Antonio De Bourbon-Galdiano-Montenegro; whose Munanzo is located in Los Angeles, California, and where I humbly serve as the Yaya. Although the Afro-Brazilian religion of Quimbanda derived from the Congo Region (Angola) of Africa, the practices of this rama (religious lineage) is very different from the Afro-Caribbean ramas (religious lineage) of Palo Mayombe, Palo Kimbiza, and Palo Monte.
