I just completed a practice session to try and AP. During, I used a shamanic meditation with a spirit animal and it led me to a tree. I know that shamanic journeying isn't AP. As I focused on this large tree, it appeared to have symbols on it. It was up on a hill with small stone steps leading to it. The steps look old and worn. There was very green grass and at a certain point there was a "barrier" of white light. I couldn't see passed this light but the more focused I placed on the tree, the deeper in thought I became. After a moment it seemed as if there was an explosion in my mind. There was a flash of light and then I could actually see my nose and hair in a first person view. It was all dark but it appeared as if I was standing in water and there were small mounds of earth in the water. I've never experienced the feeling before. It was frightening at first, but I settled in to it and tried to keep my focus on staying in this state. I actually have a lingering numbness at the moment and I can't seem to sleep now. Was this a slightly successful AP or something else? Any help would be much appreciated.
