I know this is going to sound crazy, but I was just wondering why only gray and/or calico cats pick out house to mooch off of? There are stray cats all over the area we live( woods nearby, just outside town). At one time we were feeding 11 cats. Some stay, some go,some pass on. We feed them, treat any wounds or illness,spay or neuter if we have the money, make sure they are warm and safe. I can't stand to see any animal starve,or cold,or hurt. Heck,most of the time they come in And out of the house any time. We fixed our door so that they could. They potty in the litter box or go outside and we have all the mice, chipmunks,lizards,birds and grasshoppers we will ever need. I just wish I wouldn't wake up with a half chewed tail-less mouse sharing my pillow.
Sorry! Got off track! For some reason,all of the cats that stay are gray or calico(tortoise shell). Black ones and yellow ones come thru or are born here but after they are grown, they leave or pass away. Genetics is part but many are not related. The males leave because of the dominant male I'm sure but we have them fixed so..... Oh well.Just wondering. It seems odd .
