I don't know if this is the right place to post about Pennsylvania Dutch folk magic. Also known as hexelrei, pow wow etc. Does it fit in with Wiccan and such?
There is much about hexelrei that is not very exciting. Much of it is simply home remedies for ailments like dropsy or the vapors. I am living proof that the remedy for baldness does in fact work. In the book of spells it makes the fantastic claim that it can grow hair on a door knob. That may be an exaggeration.
I personally know two people who have struggled in vain to cast hexes to no avail. They have been trying for many years. They have all the books and all the talismans and such. But no magic. Then there is me who never spent a lot of time trying and got it right on my first attempt. But I did have help from an ancient old woman named Ruth. She was very good at it. I could not have done it without her. She sold me the hex. That was many years ago.
