"The coffin was covered in blood. Fresh blood flowed from the dead man's eyes, nose, mouth and ears. Fresh nails grew from his fingers and toes. When the villagers plunged a stake into his heart, the corpse groaned!"

This report was written in1727. It tells how serbian villagers dug up the body of arnold pale. Local people belived that he rose from his grave to kill four villagers and suck the blood of their cattle! But was this man really a vampire.

No one caught paole sinking his teeth into a victim. The blood in the coffin was probably a mix of reddish liquid produced by rotting body, and blood that naturally becomes runny again after death. It is also common for people's nails and hair to grow after they die. The groan was probably caused by gases escaping from the rotting body when the stake burst it open.

Perhaps the most simple explanation is that when people started dying mysteriously in the vilage ,it was easiest to blame on someone who was already dead!

Vampire Diseases:
Vampies may have been people suffering from rare diseases such as porphyria. Sufferers are so sensitive to sunlight they can get sunburn on a cloudy day.

Not suprisingly, they spend most of the time hidden in dark places-like a vampire! Porphyria can also make teeth and fingernails turn red ,making them look bloody.

In the past, many people believed that vampires caused plagues. A plague is a lorge outbreak of a deadly disease. Between 1347-49 the black death wiped out almost third people living in Europe.

With so many people dying, some may have been buried alive by mistake. So,when their coffins were opened, these bodies would seem fresher. The plague gave them white skin and red gums - just like vampires!

Now do vampire really exist?
