Bread, I'm not quite sure what you mean by asking 'what' you are. Could you please clarify?
Some things to consider are that firstly, the road to self-discovery is a long one. It is not something a person simply knows right off. In fact, a lot of people don't know their true selves (a goal of many magic traditions), but rather they know themselves in terms of other aspects. It is why a lot of times, as an easy example, when a couple splits up the two people need to get to know who they are again.
Secondly, while doing a spell for a dream might work, it may not always be the best option, as such things are not always guaranteed. It seems you want a dream to tell you things, which you can only find by searching deep within, and experimenting with aspects of your inner self. It is more than one can typically learn in a dream. Again, it is something which can be found in the long-term search for who you are.
Something else to consider is, judging my your brief post, you are still young, the brain 'solidifies' (for lack of a better word) some time in the late twenties to mid-thirties of a person's life. Until that time, that individual is still becoming who they will be in life. It is why people are very impressionable at a younger age; they are more open to suggestion.
problem is that people always try to put themselves into some pattern, to ''find'' themselves... I think it is wrong to say that the molten fiery spirit of our free will ''hardens'' at age around thirties... you are what you want to be, every day you are a newborn mirracle, you are what you want to be, everchanging, so dont bother with limmiting yourself... I also see a lot of people classifying things in ''schools'' of magic, or stuff they do... you are free spirit, everything around you are means to an end, jus be sure to follow the rules of The Great Game
