What are your thoughts on this? At first I recognized the archetype, but then I realized every deity belongs to a unique belief system and traditions of their own and are wildly different from one other -- to say they're all one just for convenience's sake would be kind of disrespectful, wouldn't it?
And then I read of certain deities being adapted to some cultures from past or foreign cultures (hence, Neptune/Poseidon) and wondered if they change their forms and names so... or if we create gods in our own image...

I believe that there are beings we call Gods, ancient powerful beings.
And there are thoughtforms so powerful, human belief has elevated them to "godhood".
So, to me, there are: Gods, Thoughtforms that are "Gods" and Extremely old entities that are "God-Like" but maybe stronger... something Unique shall we say.
I agree with falgg in all that you see going on around the world ,its when you see this you relise even Gods Liminted in things . But God are there and most people need them in there life
Interesting, thanks both. : ) I ask, because my advisor only became my advisor because (she says) I encountered her Goddess on an AP, didn't know, and wasn't as respectful as traditional. The name the entity gave me was Shekhina, but my advisor said I'd entertained Sekhmet.
The description I gave was a woman made out of golden light (so I thought it was another astral projector) accompanied by a faun (which neither Shekhina nor Sekhmet originally have-- and, I don't worship anyone, and what was a faun doing in a tropical country?)
It's been kind of boggling, but I suppose my advisor and I share a protective ultimate Mother archetype somewhere in our minds...

Fauns kind of symbolizes mischief in dreams and you might have to interpret the rest in order to warn the right person...Hopefuly that is not the case...ohh and I often wonder the same about the different gods and such...One thing I like about diferent kind of religions is the similarities in the development of purifications of the soul...I like how they all focus humanity and love...
