Mastering the elements
Ok, so I've been hearing a lot of stuff about mastering the elements and much of what I hear is pure crap. Ok, so people claim they can move a drop of water with their minds. They're probably lying and besides that in no way makes you a master of water. It just means you're telikinetic. A true master of water can walk through a thunderstorm without getting wet. So, how does one accomplish this. There are three requirements. The first, you must not be afraid of that element. If you are afraid of fire, you will never master it. I personnaly am terrified of heights so I will never master air. Now, the way we do this is by commanding and influencing the elemental spirits. The elemental spirits of fire are called salamanders. Undines for water, gnomes for earth, and sylphs for air. Each of these types of spirits have a flaw. You must nit have that flaw. An arrogant man can nevver command salamanders for he is brought down by the same flaws as the entities he commands. A man who gets distracted easily will never command the sylphs, also, we must excell in their strengths.
"it is necessary to be as prompt and active as the sylphs; as flexible and attentive to images as the undines. As energetic and strong as the Salamanders; as laborious and patient as the gnomes; in a word, we must conquer them in their strength, without ever allowing ourselves to be enthralled by their weaknesses"
Finnaly, we must go through some sort of initiation process to prove to them we are capable and worthy to command them. Ancient cults had elaborate ceremonies for this sort of thing but as they no longer exist, we must initiate ourselves. If we want to master water, we could swim through a raging riptide, if we want to master air, we could cross a deep gorge on a tree trunk. If we want to master earth, we could scale a mountain during a storm. When I initianted myself into mastering fire, I had an expert firewalker take me to a volcanoes in Hawaii where I walked across a bed of lava. Once you are sure you have gotten rid of any flaws that belong to the elementals corresponding with your element and you are sure you have exceeded them in there good traits, only then would I suggest I itiating yourself. Once you have initiated yourself, you may work on mastering the element. Each element has it's own exercise designed for mastering it. Now let's say that you are very good at concentrating and you  are active and efficient. Now let's say you've initiated yourself by climbing up a really tall tree or whatever and you're not afraid of heights. Now what? You would do the exercise daily. This is the exercise of air. Face east and blow as hard as you can, then, recite this oration. Amen. Sela, fiat. Qu'il en soit ainsi. Now the first thing that came to
Now I know a lot of you are wondering, do we have to recite it in Latin, the answer is no but I would recommend it. When I first started doing the exercise of fire, I used English but later switched to Latin. The English translation for that would be, The Spirit of God brooded upon the waters, and breathed into the face of man the breath of life. Let Michael be my chief and Saltabiel my servant in the light and by the Light. Be my breath by the word; and I will command the spirits of this atmosphere, and will bridle the horses of the sun by the will of my heart, the thought of my mind, and the winking of my eye. I exercise thee, creature of air by the Pentagram, and in the name of the Tetragram, in which are firm will and true faith. Amen, Selah; so be it. So mote it be.
Do this to all directions, when you are finished, return to the east and draw an eagles head before you with the plume of an eagle. Finnaly, recite the prayer of the sylphs. Spirit of light! Spirit of wisdom! whose breath gives and takes away again the forms of all things! Thou, in whose presence the life of being is a shadow which changes, and a vapor which passes away. Thou who ascendest the clouds and movest on the wing of the winds. When thou breathes! forth, infinite spaces are peopled! When thou inhalest, all that comes from thee returns to thee! Endless movement in eternal stability, be thou eternally blest! We praise thee and bless thee in the changing empire of created light, of shadows, of reflections and of images; and we long unceasingly for thine immutable and imperishable light. Let the ray of thy intelligence and the heat of thy love penetrate even to us; then what is movable will become fixed; the shadow will become a body; the spirit of the air will become a soul; the dream will become a thought, and we shall no longer be borne away by the tempest, but shall hold the bridle of the winged steeds of the morning, and shall direct the course of the evening winds that we may fly into thy presence. O spirit of spirits! O eternal soul of souls! O imperishable breath of life! O creative inspiration.  O mouth which inspires and respires the existence of all beings in the flux and reflux of thy eternal Word, which is the divine ocean of movement and of truth. Amen! Now, after Doing this Daily for a while, you will start to feel one with the element of air. Soon, sylphs will accept that you are worthy to command them. They will reveal themselves to you and talk to you. Sometimes, however, the elenentals can get rowdy. If this happens, cast a circle and place on it, consecrated water, a consecrated sword, an eagle feather, and an incense censer. Trace in the air a hexagram with your wand and say
Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, Anael!
Fluat udor per Spiritum Elohim
Manet in terra per Adam Yod-HaVah!
Fiat firmamentum per Yod-HaVah-Sabaoth!
Fiat judicium per ignem in virtute Michael!

Angel of the blind eyes, obey, or pass away with this holy water!
Work Winged Bull, or revert to the earth, unless thou wilt that I should pierce thee with this sword!
Chained Eagle, obey my sign, or fly before this breathing!
Writhing serpent, crawl at my feet, or be tortured by the sacred fire and give way before the perfumes that I burn in it!
Water, Return to water!
Fire, burn!
Air, circulate!
Earth, revert to earth!
By Virtue of the Pentagram, which is the Morning Star, and by the Name of the Tetragram, which is written in the centre of the Cross of Light!
Amen. Amen. Amen.
Finnaly, you will need to summon the elemental king of air, Paralda. I gave never summoned him before so I will give an example of how I summoned Djin, the king of the salamanders. Now, you command sylphs with the holy pentacles, gnomes with the consecrated sword, undines with the cup of libtation, and salamanders with the forked wand or magic trident. Now I know all of you are thinking that the sword us ascociated with fire, the pentacles with earth and the wand with air and that I have everything mixed up. Well I don't. This is just how things work and hast nothing to do with the modern assumption that the pentacles belong to earth, the wand to air etc. I choose to arm myself with a weapon called the trident of paraclesus. I drew a protective circle along the ground and enscribed ut with various names of power. I had a red robe. I performed a ritual calked the lesser invoking ritual of the pentagram of fire before saying
"Omnipotent and eternal god who gas ordained the who creation for thy praise and thy gluey ad also for the salvation of man, I beseech thee to send me thy spirit Djin of the elemental kingdom of fire so that he may instruct me in those things about which I design to ask him, nontheless, not my will be done but thine through Jesus Christ Our Lord and Saviour. I'm not going to go through all the details of the ritual but you get the idea. This us the true way of mastering an element. And if you think Im getting thus from Harry potter or whatever, you're wrong.

Why is it that humans want to control things? To have a supreme power over something they obviously know very little about? I am alway's wandering this...

No one can control the elements. I don't care who you are. You can't end of story.
And heani, don't forget in your hatred of humans that you yourself are human.

I find these, very long and complicated, "teaching" posts rather amusing. They are invariably written by people who cannot spell and have no knowledge of English grammar.

I am sorry. I don't mean to be offensive with this post, though it invariably will be, but this is all complete cr*p.

First of all,Noveau, you can indeed control the elements. No I don't mean you can create fireballs and throw them at people, or make giant tidal waves with the flick of your wrist. You can do certain things though. for example a beginning exercise for pyrokinesis is moving a flame, extinguishing it, and relighting it from the ember (on a candle). For water a beginning exercise is making ripples to learn to influence the water. I personally have controlled the wind, granted it was not a wind as much as breeze, but still.

Also, you do not have to do a ceremony to make the spirits of the elements accept you. You don't use the spirits of the elements to control them. You don't have to swim through rapids to hydrokinesis. To be able to use an element, you need to connect with it. I have spent long periods of time sitting outside and getting to know the wind. The feel of it, the scent it carries, the sound it makes, everything. That is what you need to to. Feel the heat of the fire(don't burn yourself though.), hear the trickling of the water, catch the scent of the earth. No spirits, angels, or kings of elements. There are no initiations, just simple things that you can do in your spare time, and there are no latin chants that you have to do.

There are numerous websites and countless people who are well-practiced in these areas. The way I have done it is I let my energy out (like energy manipulation), and mixed it and let my senses free. I remembered everything about the wind and mimicked it. (I also have done telekinesis and that is much different and on a side note you don't have to walk through rain and remain bone-dry to be a hydrokinetic master. doubt that is even possible if you were one. That sounds more like telekinesis to me, but that it my opinion). If you want to learn ask around and go search for websites, though take everything you read with a grain of salt. There is a lot of BS out there. It is up to you to decide what works and what doesn't.

Heani, I do agree with you. Humans always want more power and complete power of everything (I am no exception, I am human, though I do hope that I am not as bad as some are). There is no way, though, to have ultimate control over elements. You can never completely control every single aspect of anything. I am not saying that you cannot be strong, you just have to accept that you won't be the all powerful master of fire. Just become as strong as possible through practice and determination.

Brysing just because someone is bad at spelling or grammar, does not mean that they cannot teach us everything. They can be very knowledgable at many things. That does not mean that they are perfect at everything.

I am sorry if there are spelling and grammar errors that I didn't catch. After all, as I said before: I am only human.
I am also sorry if I have offended anyone. I just felt like I had to say something. If your opinions differentiate that is fine. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion this just happens to be mine

I agree completely with nouveau mastering elements cannot be done. You can influence them or work with them but not master them.

When I say influence I mean like calling a breeze.

I dare you to jump in an active volcano and see if you live.

I was meaning "all" these long and complicated "teaching posts". Not just the one above. The question I would ask is "Why do you want to teach?". Is it to show off your knowledge (which quite often doesn't amount to much.) or is it that you wish to influence people with your own views? What I try to do on this site is to point members in the direction of real magic, and away from fantasy. (Werewolves?) I would not dream of teaching magic to anybody! One cannot learn magic by reading what somebody else has written. One has to be shown; personally.
And we should always remember the old adage:- Those who can, do; those who cannot, teach!

Dyriaex, I never said that it was mastering them. One of the posts that I responded to said that elements cannot be controlled at all and I said you can learn to manipulate them. I specifically said that you can learn to control them but you never completely master anything.

As for the me saying that I could influence a breeze, first of all it is completely true, and second of all how does that relate in any way to jumping into a volcano. Calling a breeze is much different then becoming fire retardant. I also said that stuff like that is pretty much impossible in my last post (if this wasn't directed at me then I'm sorry, but it seemed like it was seeing as how that is exactly what I said in my post). What do you consider controlling elements if you say that calling a small breeze is the equivalent of jumping in lava?

Brysing, sorry I was just in a ranting mood earlier. I agree with you that you cannot just read a random post and be good at something. The post are there just to give us some base knowledge for actually learning. At least that is what I hope mine are doing. Sorry again.
