I can't buy any candles. If I color the white ones where other colours are needed. Will it work just fine?

White candles can work, yes, for multiple purposes. They can work for love, money, friendship, protection, and cursing if dressed with oils or plants and herbs. They also can be carved with sigils as a substitute for plants and oils to represent intent.

If you mean coloring the white candles in the way of dying them, yes this can work. Yet white candles alone along with the ideas above can work for multiple intents as well.

Everything CrystalSeer says is correct, I wanted to add, people believe that each colour has a specific energy [like green for wealth or pink for love] If you don't have a specific colour and want to incorporate this energy, you could use a cloth [or construction paper] of that colour. Place the candle in a candle holder or fire-safe dish and then place it ontop of the cloth. The cloths colour was chosen for the specific reason of the colour, so the energy would be incorporated into the spell as a result.
