Of course I didn't have my wedding yet, but one can dream, so let's go. Wedding ring... What about a ring made of bone? With small cream-coloured gems all around it.

Why not go for a wedding with a darker-esque? A victorian man-suit for both grooms, or an extravagant also victorian dress for the bride, with velvet coated shoes!

The wedding could happen at an old manssion for extra drama, or maybe a garden surrounded by tulips!

About proposing, it could happen at a trip to a place with cold beaches at night, under a beautiful full moon. Looking each to each other in the eye, feeling the cold air all around us, while proposing and having the moon, the sea, the stars, the sand and snow and the wind as witnesses...

The honeymoon could be at the same place as were the proposing was, in a beautiful and cozy hotel or maybe rented house/wooden cabin by the beach. One week of talking a break from the world to be with each other.

No superstitions; and a ball after the wedding, y'know, something more classy!

And last, but not least, music. Tiptoe Through The Tulips With Me at the ceremony, and a mix of good classics at the ball, from Edith Piaf to Queen and Beatles and all!

A dream of course, but is still quite funny to think of all that. :)

My fiance and I met in college through a mutual friend. I spent a lot of time around the mutual friend, and so did he, so by proxy we came to know each other. We were friends for about a year and a half before we decided to start dating, shortly after my birthday in December. As of this December, we will have been together four years. He proposed to me two years ago - right before we moved so I could go to graduate school. Our very first date was at a Red Lobster so he took me there again and proposed as we sat down. It meant a lot to me. We plan to get married in May, after I graduate from school.

We're planning on doing a mixing of the sands ceremony on the beach. I love the ocean and water, so it's a special place for me. We will have family and friends come up and say a few words about us, give us advice, read poems etc. Other than that, we don't intend on having anything official. No pastor, no bridesmaids, nadda. We want the wedding to be really casual and laid back. We intend on having a bucket at the front of the aisle with the seats so people can deposit their shoes and go barefoot. :)

I am going to hopefully be wearing a white and blue ombre sun dress, and he will be wearing a tux. I want to wear seashells in my hair and have a coral necklace. I'm going to make my own flowers and mix shells and ocean-y objects in them. Our colors are white and a turquoise blue. We want to have a fruit bar and grilled seafood that is easy to make on our own. We will probably play "I'll Follow You" by Shinedown at the wedding. My fiance took me took my first concert and when shinedown played I'll Follow You he asked me to dance with him in front of everyone, so we slow danced in the middle of a crowd of thousands. It was a touching moment, and that song means a lot to us both.

We're not going to go on a honeymoon, as we'll likely be moving somewhere pretty soon afterwards for me to get a job and therefore dont need to spend the money haha. We'll save up and go somewhere later on.

My Hubby and I went to school together but didn't get together until my second year of college. We had a small church ceremony, nothing big or fancy. If i had any complaints, it's that I should have chosen a better dress.

I'm not a big fan of marriage. Not the sort of "No one should get married, burn the governmental rule of romance" type of not a big fan, I just don't think I'll ever get married.

Has some stuff to do with being poly. You can only legally marry one person, and that's so unfair.

I want to marry the world.

I'd like to have a small wedding full of close friends and fam. I kinda already pictured the wedding dress. It's going to be a flowy white dress and I want a veil of flowers hanging down from my hair. My spirituality is going to be a big part of it. I want to have a hand fasting, mainely.

But viking themed n stuff.

Non alcoholic mead for the kiddies and alcholics.

Because let's face it.

All of the norse gods are probably alcoholics.

All of your stories are super touching! <3

For me, I have tossed around a lot of ideas with Holy. I was sad for a long time about not having any family or friends to invite to the wedding. Too many members of my family are theives, ex-convicts, pedophiles, racists, sexists, child beaters, just...no. Holy's family is for the most part is the same. When it comes to friends no one but each other has really been there for us. They all discarded us after they were done using us and taking advantage of our kindness. I have went through three different brides maid ideas.I have no one to walk me down the isle, I'm not Christian so I don't want it in a church. Same story with having any kind of best man, no attendes.

So coming to terms with all of that I had to come up with new plans...I know for sure I want the wedding somewhere outside in a gazebo, with a grassy field filled with flowers. I was checking out some places like Washington that have the kind of scenery I am talking about. For who I would want to effeciate it...That is a tricky one. I think it would be hard to incorperate my religion in it. I disagree with most Hellenics and Ares is VERY unpopular as he is misunderstood and misportrayed. Movies trump books don't cha know!

For my outfit I wanted my hair cut short in a nice way dyed a lighter blonde than my natural hair color. I am naturally a golden blonde, I want it to be a more iced blonde in a pixie or bob cut. I want a split skirt, corsetish top, with high sandals, oh and a red cloak! Random right? Not so much, it is how spartan women dressed so I found it quite fitting!

For music I have some songs I really like. Cascanda- Every Time We Touch was the song we danced to on his first birthday we were together. We went to Golf 'N Stuff and DDR while singing that aloud, he loves girly-ass pop songs! xD

Songs I really like are System of A Down- Lonley Day because of the line, "and if you go, I wanna go with you. And if you die, I wanna die with you." That is how deeply our loyality runs for each other.

No one really purposed to anyone...It's kinda like being best friends. You don't ASK to be best friends. One day it just becomes a thing, it is just implied and assumed. A lot of times people say their spouse is their best friend. I truly mean that because we were best friends before we started dating. It's not to say other lovers are not best friends it's just...I see a lot of spouses keep little white lie secrets from each other or vent to their other friends/best friends about their spouse. I vent to him about him, I tell him everything.

I don't need to take a girl to Sephora or Mac, he will come with me and get his make up done too! If I want a girls day out he will come get a mani-peti with me! When I go clothes shopping he will actually participate and tell me how everything looks on me, suggest shoes for me, help me pick out accessories and so on. He doesn't just sit in the man chair texting on his phone sighing wishing he was somewhere else. Liking more manly guyes is totes cool too of course! I just like that if I want a pink fluffy princess bed, Hello Kitty toilet seat covers, and my little pony bath towels he is all for it! It just means when deciding where to go or how to decorate the house we are almost always in agreement.

"On the night of the wedding, the bride would have her hair cut short and be dressed in a man's cloak and sandals before being left alone in a darkened room, where they would be visited and ritually captured by their new husband."

Linkie:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Women_in_ancient_Sparta

Yeah the "capturing" part I don't think he can do with his nerve damage...I bet with how much of a skinny bitch he is I could build a little muscle and carry his ass. FOR THE PRIDE OF THE AMAZONS!! I claim this man as mine, and now for the cerimonial snu snu! xD

It also makes sense considering Holy met me when I was seventeen, almost eightteen. I am now twenty three, he is about to be thirty. He is disabled, these things make sense in a religious context from the data on Spartans and Amazons that I have compiled.

I was talking to SilentSyren the other day and she told me about this topic of the month from a while ago, so I thought I would add my wedding story :D

So my husband and I met in December of 1997. We met in a weird bar and were introduced by a friend we both had in common.

Fast forward to New Years day (of 1997-98) 12:30 am he came to a party my roommates and I were having, but didn't get off of work until after midnight. I felt bad for him and started talking... we talked for 10 hours straight and only separated when we each had to go to work.

I was dating someone else when we met, and I broke up with him soon after meeting my husband, I just felt stronger towards my future husband and I refuse to cheat.

So about a month after meeting and talking on New years he moved into the apartment I had with a couple of roommates, and instead of moving into the room for him, he just moved into my room. We had a few really freaky months living there, but eventually we moved and changed apartments and roommates.

So fast forward to April of 1998, he and I were hanging out and received a flier from the local Renaissance Faire, and it was advertising hand fastings. I looked at him and said "You wanna get married at the Ren fair?" and he smiled and said "Yes!".
About two months later, May 31st, 1998, we got married at the Renaissance Fair.

We originally wanted to get hand fasted, but the ordained minister we wanted to do it couldn't,so we made it a non denominational wedding. We jumped the sword and broom and had dulcimer playing in the background that I couldn't even hear I was so amped. The thing I liked best that the minister said was "If there is anyone who has any objections, may they forever hold their peace".

We had our ceremony on a little man made island in the middle of the faire and had a procession from the may pole to the island, everyone shouting "God save the bride and groom!", lol so fun!

We separated in the morning so neither of us would see each other in the actual outfits.

My parents were very against us getting married, we had only known each other like 4 months before we decided to get married and I was 21 years old. When I called my mom with the news so she could hear it first, I was hung up on.

I wore a white embroidered Renaissance era dress and he was dressed for the era too, he was so handsome and I swear was glowing in a soft gold light when I saw him :)

Our rings were bands we found at a jewelry store in the mall, lol and we got what we could afford, white gold bands with yellow gold flowers around the band. At our 10 year anniversary we re did our vows and exchanged different rings that were the ones we would have gotten if we could have afforded it when we were first married. I now wear a white gold thin band with three princess cut diamonds in a row on it :)

Neither of us had groomsmen or bridesmaids. I totally did the something blue (blue garter belt), something old (my grandmother's pearls) something new (my dress) and something borrowed (again the pearls).

At our reception, which was small like the wedding, we had our first dance to a song his grandfather sang in the 1930-1940's that we had a copy of.

We ended up going to Hawaii for our honeymoon, which my parents gave to us (lucky us!).

So all that was over 18 years ago and he is still my best friend, my truest companion, and if the love in my heart had a shape, it would be in the form of him
