Destiny/Fate Question
By:
Hi everyone. I'm kind of new to all of this and I have a few questions. This is more like an opinion based question, but anywho.

Do you believe in fate/destiny? That we do not have a choice in what our lives will bring us? Or is destiny what we make it?

I ask this because I'm having a hard time figuring it out for myself and some opinions would be lovely. Thank you!

It is the old question about Fate. Which comes first, ability or opportunity? Of course, ability comes first. If you have ability, you make your own opportunity. It is all to do with Fate. We make mistakes, we try to rectify our mistakes. Fate is not what happens in life, it is what happens to you in life! And most of fate is of your own making. But of course, there are accidents, and for those you can say,"Well, it is just fate".

I believe some things in life are truly set, but in between we get a lot of freedom to choose how we want to live it. For instance, you may be destined that you have a child, but your choices will decide if you raise it in a happy family or a broken home, if you will be poverty stricken or financially comfortable, unwell or healthy, etc.

I am existentialist rather than deterministic. We are all condemned to freedom, we are all responsible for our destiny (as Brysing says with accidents). But none of the two doctrines is more valid than the other.

I believe that once we are born we are born with a fate, a destiny. We are destined to do this or that, but as we grow up we make choices that mold our destiny into something completely new.

We have free will, or rather free access to Will (Notice the capital "W". That is important.), but at the same time we are guided and directed by what some would call fate. They seem like opposites, but both are true.

We are free and yet not free, we need water, but yet we drink junk , but we need nutrition and yet we eat junk, the mind sets its own fate, and yet fate has it own plans, its a tragedy
