I feel everyone should get a say in a coven. Covens are groups where come together with similar intrests and get along well. It is not a place to be ruled with a iron fist. The main problem of this site is the disregard to outsiders. New folk get harrassed because people think just because they ask a fluff question that there fluff. Then it just turns into High School were people make fun of the loser or newbie. Were better then petty High Schoolers to let this take place. People complain of saying the same thing twice well thats teaching. Teachers has the same resagme and way of teaching the difference is they change things around to fit the students. They make it so people want to learn. All you really doing when complaining is taking attention off the problems that NEED to be fixed for this idiotic drool of fluffs and junk.

Divinitation, that comment towards Amity was completely unnecessary. Why not stick to the actual topic of the post?

Now, to get back to the actual post...

I think Amity has got it to a T. The raw humanity, faults, good aspects, bad aspects, arguing, learning, and so on seems to give the site some character, even to those who deny it, rather than being purely dull and less interactive; with no allure. I found this post really interesting- food for thought.

I don't understand why people are complaining on this post. As the title says, it's reflection. And pretty curious reflection too if you ask me.

Character is one thing complete corruption and abuse of power is another thing entirely. Members makes this site not Pet and the mods. The more you treat your clients like junk and idiots the more will leave and the more the site goes down the drain. It's not to late and a turn around is needed or the site will be lost forever.

"The more you treat your clients like junk and idiots the more will leave and the more the site goes down the drain."

We're not clients, we're guests.

And I hate to go all Thelema on everyone, but can't we all just do our own wills and let everything sort itself out?

Look, if Pet runs the site the way he likes them one of two things will happen;

The site will succeed
If enough people like the way the site is run then we'll all stay here and the site will flourish. Pet apparently made a good decision, the forum is awesome, and we who stay here will enjoy it.

- or -

The site will fail
If this site is really as annoying and broken as people say it is, then it will fail and there's no need to campaign against it. After all, why would people make the choice to waste their time on a thing they hate? No one is forcing you or anyone else to come here, so you're here because you want to be here. If Pet is making an awful decision in the way the site is run then eventually enough people will leave that the site will fail or be limited to two dozen cranky-yet-devoted fans. In that scenario we can all go to some other site where we'll have more fun and Pet and his supporters would be essentially punished by the massive failure of the site they've put effort into.

In either case everything is precisely as it should be. So why not just chill out and make a conscious decision for yourself, stay here or leave, and then take responsibility for this choice?

I agree that we shouldn't gag anyone who doesn't agree with us, but as I understand it that's not quite how it works.

But the store doesn't change anything. All of this is still 100% optional. You're essentially complaining to us about what you're doing to yourself.

There are ways to go about it but keeping everything a hush hush secret will only cause problems look at the government for a good example. The way people are treated on here is ridclious and should never be allowed anywhere. I care a lot because i hate sites giving bad and false information to the public especially about magick a subject all ready filled with lies. Making fun of new people and gagging them left and right will only breed more lies and make a even bigger stigma on magick it has got to stop.

"The way people are treated on here is ridclious and should never be allowed anywhere."

No only are members allowing it to happen, but by making the conscious decision to come here they are choosing to experience it.

"Making fun of new people and gagging them left and right will only breed more lies and make a even bigger stigma on magick it has got to stop."

That sounds pretty terrible, thankfully that is not what we do.

We target fluffies, not newbies. Newbies are ignorant because they are new, fluffies are willfully ignorant and refuse to accept that they may be wrong, despite the fact that everyone and everything, including logic, disagrees with them.

They are also targeted for harsh instruction, mere instruction having already been proven useless due to the willfulness of their ignorance. They're not made fun of and personal jabs are discouraged. We're not mean, we're just decidedly not nice about it either.

People are also not gagged "left and right." People are gagged very specifically for breaking rules. In the case of the chatter, it's even rules that you've been forced to read. I agree that we should perhaps have some sort of warning system prior to gagging, but you get in trouble for breaking rules anywhere else, so why should we be special in that?

"care a lot because i hate sites giving bad and false information to the public especially about magick a subject all ready filled with lies."

You know gagging a rampant liar is a pretty good easy way to stop the spread of bad and false information on your site, don't you think?

No what you don't get is gagging for making a mistake with no explanation is a direct attack for new people. Sure people read it but you can't expect them to get it down pact every time for every day. I have seen how mods act in chat it's ridiculous to threaten the members. The rules are very vague and doesn't explain that well. They say no text speak yet people go lol and brb well why no gag then? There's no rules about links and yet people can get gagged for posting one. Is it so hard to explain why someone got gagged so they don't get angry and come back with a vengeance? So many other sites do this yet you continue to make personal vendetta with people for no reason. When people ask a fluff question which is expected if their new why does everyone assume their fluff. I have seen to many back end deals with the mods to think this site works.

"No what you don't get is gagging for making a mistake with no explanation is a direct attack for new people."

That's not an attack, it's a form of reprimand. And it does not target new people, it targets rule breakers regardless of how old or new they are.

"Sure people read it but you can't expect them to get it down pact every time for every day."

I seem to have done a pretty good job, and a few of the medications I've been prescribed have been so strong I've essentially been high while here, and I'm not even some oldbie - I joined three and a half months ago. If I can figure it out and do it while high on slightly hallucinogenic drugs, I'm sure other people can figure it out too.

"I have seen how mods act in chat it's ridiculous to threaten the members."

You know, I keep hearing complaints like this, but no evidence. Could someone please screen cap this next time a mod supposedly flips out and starts mass banning or whatever? I know our mods aren't perfect (being humans and all that) and sometimes they have a bad day and are harsher than perhaps we'd like, but I've seen nothing to suggest something as extreme as what you're suggesting.

"The rules are very vague and doesn't explain that well. They say no text speak yet people go lol and brb well why no gag then?"

You apparently need to re-read the Survival Guide;

http://www.spellsofmagic.com/coven_ritual.html?ritual=1944&coven=1
============
* Do not use Text Speak in the chat, forums, or elsewhere except in private messages and mail. Please spell out your words. Text speak is substituting abbreviations for words. Examples of this are: using u for you, plz for please, an1 for anyone, 4 for for, thx or thnx for thanks etc.

* Using lol/LOL and Brb are allowed from what Petrarca has stated. The reason text speak is not allowed is because it is very confusing and it's not a recognized language, people who do not understand or speak English very well have a difficult time enough without deciphering cryptics.
============

"There's no rules about links and yet people can get gagged for posting one."

You apparently also need to re-read the Chatter Rules;

www.spellsofmagic.com/coven_ritual.html?ritual=1945&coven=1
============
Links:

regular members do NOT have the ability to post links in the chatter, If you have a link you would like linked in the chatter mail it to a moderator.

If you post a link in chatter you will be reminded of this. If you continue, the moderator will class it as spam.
============

"When people ask a fluff question which is expected if their new why does everyone assume their fluff."

Watch us more closely and you'll see this is not the case. If a person simply asks "is there a spell to be a mermaid?" they are given the honest answer of "no" and it's assumed they're just a newbie. If they say "I have three immortal vampire friends but none of them will tell me how to turn myself into a vampire, is there a spell?" then they've already committed the the fluffy lie of having three immortal vampire homies and they'll be treated as the fluffy bunny they are. And even then we don't lash out, we explain that we don't believe them and precisely why.
