I think immortality is a gross crime against nature, and as such cannot be achieved. We are here to live and learn with theknowledge that we will eventually die. If we were not to die, what would spur us on? To suffer a thousand or even a hundred years on this earth would exhaust even the greatest man into wanting to pass onto a realm of euphoria, whatever that might be. You will have many chances to live here on earth (as I believe) so do nOt try to lengthen the lesson you need to learn in this lifetime.

I find that those who seek immortality are those who fear death. My advice to you is to seek to understand death and learn to live life in the present, learn to enjoy life and every aspect, even the aspect of growing old. Our spirits are forever, our bodies are a vehicle and a learning tool. It is meant to be let go. Youth is overrated, and death is only seen as ugly to those who perceive it that way.

It is an old belief that those who embrace death live the longest. And those who fear it gain it faster. This makes sense because through fear we dwell on the subject in a negative way.

Bob Hope lived life to the fullest. However he smoked, had a high cholesterol diet, and did every "taboo" health professionals claim will cause a shorter life. He lived past the age of 100.

Yet a person who focuses on exercising, eating 100% healthy out of fear of disease and early death can drop dead of a heart attack or get hit by a car.

The reasons for this comparison isn't to discredit a healthy lifestyle, but a case in point that we do not have control over the end of our life, but we do have control over our quality of life mentally and emotionally. A person who worries about death and seeks immortality or extended life is not living as happily as one who lives to live and doesn't overly concern themselves about death. It is proven scientifically that happy, positive people live longer and suffer less illness than those who are negative mentally and emotionally. Negative emotions and stress lowers the immune system and can actually cause health problems. So keep that in mind and work to change your perspective, rather than your future.

As an alchemist I can say yes, it is a fear of fading into nothingness or a fear of death that drives people to seek immortality, a higher being is quite unlikley to offer any sort of help on that path due the simple fact that mortal worshipers come and go but immortals get a superiority complex, there is a recipie floating around for the red rock, but its more likley to kill someone then grant them immunity from death. might I inqure further on how you came to this conclusion that you could "cheat death" for lack of a better term?

Also with my experience or lack of, I find Immortality first step towards godhood, if that is your goal then you may consider that you will need to convert your body into a mass of pure energy.. but i digress good luck to you.

We are animal matter. And in the sense that matter cannot be destroyed,we are all immortal in the sense that we carry on living as another form of life. The only real immortality is to have children. Everybody is the result of millions of years of genes and DNA being passed on through children. If you have children, and they have children, you will, or rather your genes will, live forever.
I am, I suppose, rather old. I certainly do not fear death. I do fear how I am to die, though!

That is a good question, I only think that the matter is how? How does one do this? Well I don't know if it is possible, I will say that I do know the name of the angel of Death. Uriel who is, is also considered a reaper. Death, in some texts, is capitalized, so what does this tell you? This tells you that Death is a pronoun, that it is actually a person, a place or a thing, for the name is capitalized. Does one have to believe this? No. Will people tell a person that there is no such thing, as "Death?" Yes. So when this angel is referred to as, "Uriel, reaper, angel of Death," this implies that this angel has dominion over what is reaped, or what is harvested. Then all this goes back the question, what is an angel? Some paths don't accept angels or demons into even slight or possible consideration. I don't know what to tell you, but my answer is that I don't know. If there is such a way to even meet this angel, then I would consider that one reads and reads and reads, then practices and practices and practices. I would think that even summoning this angel, if this is what is considered or implied, one might have to perform high magic and rituals, which are considered complicated and what not. It's like a vision quest, a person might have to fast and sit in a steam bath, over long periods of time, just to receive or have a vision that answers a demanding question.

I don't know if the Philosopher's Stone actually works, but here is the link to the free book about it in case anyone wants to try it for themselves. If this guy is pulling our legs, he certainly went through a lot of trouble to do such (everything he mentions in supported by quotes from other authors).
