HAHA my bad. Well, remember not all spirits are bad though they give you the creeps.

You stated that her walls were covered in family portraits.
You could be paranoid that somebody could be watching you because of all those eyes.
Also as it has antique furniture its gives of a old creepy look does it not?
Or although it could be paranormal activity.

For the record spirits do not roam in new houses only in used ones which had a crust of residual energy. If its can evil spirit i advise to have some mirrors around as spirits will run if they see their own reflection. yes the have a reflection.
