I remember the days when a phone was used for........calling people.

Period.

I don't understand the purpose of texting, personally. If I have something to say, I pick up the phone, touch a few numbers and talk.

*shrugs*

The purpose is secrecy for the most part... and records.. 'He said.. she said sort of thing' besides that... -_- I do not like text messaging.. but I do it on my computer all the time.. hahaha

Minutes these days are gettinge expensive.tmobile,at t sprint qwest they charge like 100 dollars for like 50 min. And if u go over u slammed with a overage charge. Texting is basicly for small conversation that's meaningless. 6 times out of ten its ussed for gossip. The other 3 its insults and the 1 time its used by parents to yell at kids

I so agree with Healer (I think she is very wise and love her posts).

I wonder if these new phones are really a good or bad thing. Yes if kids are stuck they can call home quickly but what about when they video fights etc?/ There are so many bad things that seem to be associated with them - text speak being one as teachers are having a hard time trying to get the kids to use proper english.

I will admit it, I used to talk like that all the time, but then one day something happened. I was looking down at a message I wrote for quite a while when I said to myself, "Well that just looks plain stupid, no wonder nobody's been takin' me seriously, what with me talkin' like that and all." And so I started using capital letters, periods, commas (commas are my best friend), and just about everything else needed for fairly good grammar. I personally can't stand text speak anymore, gives me a headache.

Yes, I know, but I just love commas too much, they're awesome.
