Hello friends.
I'm a baby witch.
After casting a spell, I feel like my energy is low and this lasts for 1-2 days.
How can I ground myself?
I still don't understand the grounding issue.
I write magic in story form.
Look into the cone of power and start practicing. There are many ways to do it, but that was the easiest way for me to learn when I was growing up.
You should not be using your own personal energy to do magic. That's why we evoke or call to spirits, archetypes, or divinity to flow through us. We then become the catalyst and direct the energy through our will.
It comes from the idea that we are an emanation of the Divine, or the part of the whole that is the universe. We are the priest or priestess who connects the worlds and manifests thought into change.
This is why we say, as above so below.
The entire quote is from the Emerald Tablet and has been translated as:
"As below, so above; and as above so below. With this knowledge alone you may work miracles. And since all things exist in and emanate from the ONE Who is the ultimate Cause, so all things are born after their kind from this ONE. The Sun is the father, the Moon the mother; the wind carried it in his belly. Earth is its nurse and its guardian. It is the Father [parent] of all things, the eternal Will is contained in it."
After your ceremony, you should ground and center. In this way, you are stepping out of the circle (that places you in the center of the universe with the elements at your fingertips) and stepping back into the tangible realm we are currently bound to in this bags of flesh and bone.
Touch the ground with both hands flat on the ground and connect to the earth below you. Touch your finger between your eyebrows and rub the area gently. Focus on the sensation and take a deep breath with your stomach and not your chest. Clap, stomp your feet, shake off like a wet dog if you must! And most importantly (and the best part) enjoy your favorite meal, really tasting and smelling it like you never have before. Focus on every sense as if it were the first time you ever experienced.
That's what grounding and centering is about. Being here in the moment, self aware, and completely connected to your body.
If you read one book about magic in your entire life, I suggest Paul Huson "Mastering Witchcraft." It's by far the best book on practicing magic that I've ever come across, but it's not for Wiccans, it's for Trad Witches. If you're Wiccan, I suggest anything from Scott Cunningham. Since you liked to do magic through story, you may want to look up "Magic, Power, Language, Symbol: A Magician's Exploration of Linguistics" to get a firm understanding of how language and magic are tied throughout history.
