Telepathy Discussion
By:
Hello fellow users. I have been interested in learning about Telepathy and if possible, using it. How would I practice telepathy or if you do not believe it, why?

Telepathy isn't a magical ability and most people would deem it as impossible; however, science does not. The United States government has spent a lot of money on studies like this topic in Psychology and psychologists classify it as extrasensory perception. Things that may fall under the line of extrasensory perception are seeing the future, reading into one's past, etc. It is a means of achieving or transmitting information without the use of the five senses. It is a sixth sense. While nothing is confirmed, there are pieces of evidence & studies about extrasensory perception that still continue to grow to this day. A documentary that does a pretty accurate job of explaining these studies and experiments is "Through the Wormhole: Is there a Sixth Sense?". You might find that the documentary is common in a lot of Psychology classes with psychologists/teachers with over 15-20 years of experience in the field.

CowboyBoots, what you have described is not Telepathy.
Telepathy is "reading" the thoughts of another person. It is not "seeing the future", or seeing the past! It is "Mind Reading".
And every time somebody has claimed to be able to do it, they have been proven to be faking.
What you have described is Extra Sensory Perception. Not Telepathy.

Actually, Brysing. He's not too far off there.

Source:http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3056186/

This comes from the article:

"The ESP or paranormal experiences include i) telepathy or communication between two geographically separated persons, outside the range of sensory organs; ii) clairvoyance or knowledge of hidden objects or events occurring outside the physical reach of the person and iii) precognition or knowledge of future events that can not be predicted or inferred from the available information. Examples of PK would include poltergeist phenomenon and paranormal healing."

Thank you, Reginleif. I would also like to note that I was not deeming telepathy to be confirmed or proven true. I'm open to the possibility of something like that if a government body and national institutions are willing to be open to the topic for study and experiment about. The whole idea of extrasensory perception is an idea that is being studied. It is something I started learning in my Psychology class. Brysing is correct about the definition of telepathy, but my personal standpoint is different than the common assumption. What I meant was, as the article I gave to Reginleif stated, telepathy is an aspect/form of extrasensory perception. Extrasensory perception deals with a variety of things like seeing the future, reading the past, telepathy, etc as those are all ways to obtain or transmit knowledge without the use of the five sense.

This part is a personal opinion and you can ignore it - My personal standpoint is that telepathy is not about reading someone's thoughts "word by word". I think it is also about the feeling of the thought and/or the smallest details. This is my own personal standpoint due stories I have heard.

Obviously you find the English language difficult to read. The Article states, quite clearly. that paranormal experiences "include telepathy"; along with other "experiences".

To make that a little clearer.
Viral infections include 1.Measles.2.Whooping Cough.3.Mumps.
That does not mean that Mumps is also Measles!

Read again brysing.
He said:
"Things that -may fall under- the line of extrasensory perception are seeing the future, reading into one's past, etc. It is a means of achieving or transmitting information without the use of the five senses."

Do you know what 'may fall under' means in the English language? It means that there are other things in there besides telepathy, like say, reading into your past, or seeing the future. So no. Measles are not mumps, and precognition is not telepathy. Precognition is a way of receiving information, and guess what? So is telepathy, straight from the person's thoughts! Who would have guessed? Huh.

Read the whole paragraph, and decipher more of that English language, before you try to start an unnecessary argument.
