Lavender Tea Ingredients

  • 3 cups of hot water
  • One handful of fresh lemon balm. (Substitute mints or a couple of tea bags.)
  • Two tablespoons fresh or dried lavender flowers.
  • Honey

Lavender Tea Steps
Bring water to boil. Pour boiling water over lemon balm and lavender (if you are using dried or fresh lavender). Cover and let steep for about five minutes. Add lavender oil if you are using oil. Add honey at end and allow to cool briefly.

Recently made a lotion to help clear my headaches and put me in a better mood.

Ingredients

  • Coconut oil
  • Bergamot oil
  • Lime oil

You can put the coconut oil into a small container. I like tiny mason jars or something with a sealable lid. Put in 10 drops of bergamot oil and 10 drops of the lime. Mix thoroughly with a spoon or utensil. Allow to settle overnight before using it.

Spiced Hawthorn Persimmon Pear Brandy Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1.75 liters of brandy (the big bottle)
  • 2 Tablespoons Ginger
  • 1 Tablespoon Cardamom seeds, decorticated (no pods)
  • 2 Vanilla beans
  • 2 Cinnamon sticks
  • 2 Pears
  • 1 Persimmon
  • 3 cups Hawthorn (or 1.5 cups dried hawthorn berries)
  • cup honey

Coarsely chop the pear and persimmon and place them in a food processor. You may need to remove the peel of the persimmon if its especially astringent. If you are working with fresh hawthorns throw them into the food processor whole with the other fruit. Coarsely blend the fruit in the food processor and add to a gallon glass jar (or several smaller mason jars). If you are working with dried hawthorn place them in the jar directly now. Add all of the other herbs and brandy and let sit for 2 to 4 days. If you are in a pinch, place all of the ingredients (except the honey) in a double boiler or crockpot, with the lid on, and simmer at the lowest heat for 5 hours.

When perfect synergy has been achieved, strain through a cloth and wring out all the brandy with your hands. A clean older cotton tee shirt with a loose weave works well. Another option is the tighter-weave cheesecloth sold for cheese making (regular cheesecloth is too porous). You will probably need to strain out several batches to be able to effectively wring out the brandy from the pulp. Slightly heat the strained brandy to dissolve the honey, mix, label and bottle. You can compost the remaining slurry of herbs and fruit, or add it to apple cider and heat slightly. The slurry will have absconded with some of the brandy, so the cider infusion will have a kick, and be for adult palettes only.

I learned about this a little while back. If you take a table spoon of honey and sprinkle the top with cinnamon and you take it twice a day you can get rid of a common cold.

To get rid of a runny nose you can mix the following;
~Jalapeno juice or some type of hot pepper
~Honey or sugar
~lemon juice
Once you mix these you put it in the microwave until it melts into a goopy watery mixture. You can either drink this or freeze it and make frozen pops. It might taste weird but it does help with a runny nose.

Baked chicken with Herbs, Garlic and Potatoes.

- 1 chicken (3-4 lbs)cut into quarters
- 3 Tablespoons unsalted butter
- 5 medium potatoes, cut into bite size pieces
- 8 garlic cloves, peeled
- Leaves stripped from 10 sprigs fresh thyme
- Leaves stripped from 8 sprigs fresh rosemary
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- freshly ground black pepper

preheat oven to 425
Rinse and pat dry chicken, cut back extra fat.
Put butter into a large, shallow baking dish. Put dish in oven while the oven is heating.
when the butter is melted, remove the dish from the oven and add potatoes, garlic, thyme and rosemary.
Dredge the chicken, skin side down, in butter and herb mixture, arrange skin side up in the dish.
Sprinkle the chicken generously with salt and pepper.
Bake until chicken is browned and cooked through, 50-60 min.

This recipe is perfect for a rainy cold day or even when you are sick. I use the leftover chicken and make a chicken soup the next day. You could also add onions instead of potatoes or even both if you want. :)

Lavender Cookies

perfect to have with tea or coffee :)

Ingredients

1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup butter, softened
1-1/4 cups sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
2-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
4 teaspoons dried lavender flowers
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt

Directions

In a large bowl, cream the shortening, butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in extracts. Combine the flour, lavender, baking powder and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well.
Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls 2 in. apart onto baking sheets lightly coated with cooking spray.
Bake at 375? for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown. Cool for 2 minutes before removing to wire racks. Store in an airtight container. Yield: about 7 dozen.

headache tea.
this tea has helped me many times to get rid of headache, hopefully it will help you too. :)

ingredients:
tea(I use black tea)
milk
water
ginger
cinnamon
sugar

procedure:
in around 1/2 cup water add tea, cinnamon, grated ginger and sugar. add a few basil leaves if you have them(I use holy basil). bring it to a boil.
add 1/2 cup milk and bring it to another boil.
now just strain it into a cup and enjoy.
