do you know of any books? Im not really following any thing in particulair I just wanted to get into this, I been doing different forms of divination for years.
I don't know of any books exclusively on the subject. What are you interested in exactly? A specific culture or style of casting for further knowledge or for practical application? Blood magick is a practice so perhaps look at local occult shops, book stores, or just Google search books on the topic. Blood adds power but further personalized the spell. You don't need a lot, just a few drops, and you can add blood to any spell really [though I would avoid adding it to things meant to be consumed for health reasons]
Animal sacrifices are an ancient practice many cultures did to please their gods. Today it isn't a widely observed practice and most pagans try to stay as far away from the stereotype as possible. However, there are a handful of practiced which use either animal parts or animal sacrifices, but it is rare and I know of symbolic substitutes. [Like a stuffed animal, drawing/photo or meat from a butcher] perhaps look into voodoo since they have spells calling on animal parts [bones, cow tongue, chicken feet] but please don't use magick as an excuse to kill animals. Even animal sacrifices in ancient times were treated with dignity and were used because they were the best animal in the herd to be present before the gods.
Im christian, but I have dabbled in voodoo and divination, I have had premonitions before I started dabbling into anything. I heard blood rituals are pretty potent.. With my premonitions I thought maybe I have good potential for doing rituals I wanted to see how far I could take it..I mean I had obe and I wasnt trying to do anything, pretty much anything Ive done that was magic besides tarot and other divination came effortlessly without even trying,I figured if I went as far as sacrificing animals, maybe I can do something consciously.
Animal sacfrice are used for offerings in Vodou to feed the lwa. It could be for celebration means or because they did something for you and you wish to thank them.
