Not that I want to become one, even though that would be fantastic, how did they get that position?

They hacked the website lol jk Petrarca's gave them that position I would guess

They are long term members of the site who have applied a long time ago to be moderators.

By working your way up. You start by becoming editor, while meanwhile, showing your trust and honor for the job, and commitment to the site. Posting in forums and chat to show you are serious, and have some knowledge of magick, your path, and common sense of people and the rules. Just my thoughts..

StarChild is correct, or nearly so. Moderators are "elected" by the other Moderators, and then "approved" by Petrarca. Usually starting by being a Probational Moderator, until becoming established.

Brysing and Star are correct. One becomes a Moderator by being a valued contributor for a fairly lengthy period of time during which they have shown themselves to be knowledgeable about magic, mature in their interactions on the board, and consistenly contributing their time and knowledge to the website. If they do so then they may be nominated by other Moderators to become first an Editor, and then, if they continue to display the same qualities, they may be nominated to become a Probationary Moderator and then Moderator. Of course the Site Administrator gets the last say in whether one becomes a Moderator or not.
